Mets are already trying to sabotage their free agency after Steve Cohen bitched publicly that Steve Matz's agent was unprofessional after Matz signed with the Cardinals instead of the Mets.

Kevin Gausman turned down a better offer from the Mets to sign with the Jays for 5yr/110M.
I don't blame them cause it's you know.. the Mets.

Next couple days probably gonna be wild with everyone getting signings in place before the lockout on the 1st.
Bleh, was hoping we'd re-sign gausman, but that was a bit steep on years.
At least we won't have to be worried about being burned by him in the playoffs unless it's the world series.

Multiple rumors going around Max Scherzer going to sign with the mets any minute now.
Profound Sadness.
Saw last night they were offering him something like 40 mil a year which he would be crazy not to take.
Looks to be a done deal at 3 years, 130 million.
Holy shit that's a lot of money
Well this sucks. I really like Scherzer.
I'm a simple man, I just want Verlander, Altuve and maybe Correa to suffer.
Not Gerrit Cole though, and not Correa if he had signed with the yanks.
Simple.
Ngl, it's kinda nice not having to give a shit about the end of a contract impacting future spending because your owner is von moneybags. Baseball is stupid lol
Deal is finalized, Scherzer has an opt out after the second season if he doesn't want to be paid 43 million dollars as a 40 year old.
Robbie Ray to the Mariners.

I see him pitching well but having a pitch count cap at around 75. I don't see his count hitting higher than 85 much, especially for the 2nd and 3rd seasons. If he can average 6+IP per start then that contract is worth. Anything less the Mets p much burned a hole in their wallets.
So long, Robbie, and thanks for all the tight pants.
Surprised they basically swapped Ray with Gausman essentially.
