Makes sense as a way to get his adamantium back. The other thing I was thinking that its possible Wolvie, Morph and Storm all got taken by Apocalypse and will be his other 3 horsement.

They did that before, that was exactly how he got his adamantium back after Magneto removed it. Only issue is they're clearly already setting up Gambit as Death, which was the same role they had Wolverine in. Though they could just change up which Horseman Logan becomes

The makers of this show know so well how to push the right buttons. They definitely read Second Coming and knew exactly how to make anyone watching that big fight on Asteroid M super nervous.

Also Forge getting referred to as Daniel is a deep deep deep lore dive goddamn.

As far as I know, that is the first time in his entire publication history Forge's real name - previously literally only appearing in personal character notes written by Chris Claremont 40 years ago -has ever been used.

Indeed. Claremont's character outline 40 years ago had his name as Daniel Lone Eagle, but it's never been used until the episode this week.

Though I was sure Onslaught was gonna show up. I was expecting him to appear and kill Bastion with ease and there would be this major oh shit! moment when the world sees how powerful he is. Then the X-men and the other super hero teams would have to team up to defeat him.

It was still epic though. Not disappointed!

The only knock I could really give it is the voice acting is a bit sus at times, but that's in line with 90s cartoons and the voice actors in question going back to a character they haven't played for nearly 3 decades.

It also gets a lot of bonus points if you ever played Marvel vs Capcom 2, the animators are clearly big big fans.

I saw a video on the three letter network we can’t mention with the original Wolverine and Rogue VA and they both had to audition for the role, and they asked them to read lines from the original show, but they couldn’t tell them they were auditioning for X-Men ‘97 because the show had not yet been announced

I finished this today. I generally feel positively about it. The biggest asset imo is that there is absolutely no filler. They blast through the more recent plot, which I was otherwise ignorant of. No training montage episodes. No recap episodes. No character building episodes.

However, that is also a bit of a liability because it exposed what an endless combo of deus ex plot devices the X-Men story is. I like learning the mythology's cliffnotes, but wow were they doing a lot.

The only note I had is that Lifedeath should have been a B story through 5 or 6 episodes instead of half of 2 episodes.
