    I'd say yes tbh. The game is very very story driven. It'll explain some things but the game is operating under the assumption that you've played Alan Wake 1, Control (AWE DLC specifically) and have at least passing knowledge of Alan Wake's American Nightmare and the Max Payne series.

    I would say you don't need it, a YouTube video on the story would be fine. You will get more out of this game if you played Control versus Alan Wake 1 imo.

    Beat it last night, and am ready to jump into NG+. Game was great, but the ending slightly unsatisfactory. I'm hoping NG+ leaves me better satiated.
