Well Square Store is giving some details I haven't seen posted:

Nomura was quoted saying that too. So i guess we ending at the end of disc 1.

Pretty sure you could check the thread and see most of us guessed that's where they'd end the game. Aerith dies, weapons are released, and meteor is summoned. Seems like a great climax and cliffhanger to end it there.

The game is also not as long from that part of the story. It might only be the end of disc 1, but that's basically half if not more than half of the plot by that point.

There's a whole glacier and northern crater after aeris dying so it'd be a bit beyond the forgotten capitol if they are going that route. They did mention weapon in the trailer though so who knows

They also have said the order of things we visit isn't necessarily the same as the original game, so there's some room for fuckery.

Pretty sure that all falls under the forgotten city umbrella. That whole northern dig site, forest, old city itself, and the mountain ridge that leads to the reveal of the weapons should be fair game.

How the fuck they gonna fit the entire last half of the first game into the third installment unless they cut most of it out via the Nomura phantoms

I could swear I got Yuffie and Vincent in disc 2 of the original (Aeris dies at the end of disc 1), the trailer shows all this Yuffie and Vincent stuff, so I'm assuming some events are re-ordered a bit.

Cd 2 + 3 is as long plot wise as the first cd. Cd3 is technically nothing but the northern crater + side missions that you haven't completed.

The side content has so much bloat that it seems fuller, but the story is not that complicated and without the side stuff it's actually a short journey.

From the Nomura interview he said some characters will not join as fully playable party members (like RedXIII was in the first game) until the third game. And since we’ve already seen Yuffie and Cait Sith in battle, that leaves Cid and Vincent to go. While they did show Vincent in the trailer he wasn’t shown as a playable character in battle so he may not be ready until part 3.

Cid also ends up joining pretty late anyway, relative to everyone else. You can definitely get Vincent on disc 1, I can't remember where you'd get Yuffie on disc 1 though.

I think you can start encountering her before Junon.

Didn't catch it initially but Sephiroth says Reunion is worlds coming together, unless he's speaking metaphorically then it's a lot bigger than just the various Sephiroth clones converging on North Crater now. Would also explain why we're watching an alternate Zack timeline unfold concurrently.
