not a lot of history readers in the Final Fantasy fanbase i guess, horrifically mispronouncing names internally for decades to eventually get checked upon hearing the word for the first time is a well-honored inescapable recurring right of passage

It's pronounced the way it looks though so thats why I'm confused so many people were doing it wrong.

because the name comes from Gaelic origins and is pronounced like Ket-shee so of course the “Um,Aksually!” neckbeards are up in arms that SE isn’t following the script and giving them the promised W lol

I had an unofficial strategy guide for FFVII and in the character page it said "Cait Sith (pronounced "Ket Shee")."

I'll always remember that guide because the guy who wrote it had no idea the Underwater materia existed and thus following it meant missing out entirely on the Master Materia because you couldn't properly complete the quest to kill Emerald Weapon.

what the fuck is wrong with you 3. Two of my friends in my early 20's said the same shit "co co bo" and when FFX came out and introduced them they said it Chocobo like 10 times in a row and I proceeded to laugh my ass off about it.

You can, but there's a second set you can only get as a reward for bringing some items to a guy in Kalm, one of which (I believe) only dropped from Emerald after his timer had been removed.
