anyone else obsessed with chocobo racing in this? I'd legit play an entire game of only that lol.

ye gameplay advances, the smoothness of the combat, expansiveness of the open world, tech qualities extant in a lot of gorgeous locations. imagine developing for PS5 architecture helped a lot, and doesn't solve some issues like the dogshit English voice cast, but this is a drastically improved game from a technical and mechanical perspective. improved gameplay on FFXVI while we're at it.
minigames way better too Queen's Blood the best fictional card game since Gwent.
i one shot fort condor hard mode someone high five me
Don’t worry there’s plenty more mini games to rage at down the line
This really is Final Fantasy: Minigame Collection feels like. Once you get past the chapter one flashback sequence Sephiroth really feels like a distant afterthought, it’s all about what fun and frustrating minigame can I waste an hour on next?!
Yeah, gliding in Cosmo canyon is my rage inducer right now. Both the mini game and traversal in the area in general. Can't figure out how to maximise the height when you use the fans to rise. There's one tower I need to reach, managed to fly up there no problem on my first try but my party was in a bad state so the enemies wiped me and I had to restart, now I can't fly up there no matter what I do... (Of course a moment later I realize there's a higher spot I can glide from)
god bless someone not only taught Yuffie how buttons work they gave her a belt
Cave of the Gi music could play for the rest of the game and I don't think I'd be angry.
So I just hit the halfway point in chapters I think (on chapter 7, the road to Mt. Corel) and I'm trying to think of all the other big locations on disc 1. Idk if these are in order since I haven't played the OG in like a decade but
Mt. Corel > Corel > Gold Saucer > Prison > Gongaga > Cosmo Canyon > Nibelheim > Rocket Town > Wutai > Temple of Ancients, far as I know, game is 14 chapters I think so I'm not sure of the structure of chapters here, or if some things are like a sub chapter, that still seems like a significant amount of game left. If I'm wrong, you can non spoiler correct me.
Not sure if something doesn't make the cut here, seems like too many locations and not enough chapters. My guess is that a couple locations gets shifted around into the next game.
wutai isnt happening in this game pretty sure
Spoiler: show
I hear it's only 12 chapters in this one, but I might be wrong. And yeah, they confirmed no Wutai in this one
Yeah it's 14. Well, kinda disappointed we won't see Wutai or potentially Rocket Town, but that's 2 huge locations for next game. Was really looking forward to seeing Cid just be so over the top and treat Shera like complete shit or if they re-do it.
After getting home yesterday I worked out & ate, played from 6:30-11:30 and I pretty much only got out of Costa Del Sol, felt like I accomplished nothing lol.
I've really not read many reviews, but I did see a couple complaining about the side quests, and I think they vastly improved over FF7R1. No idea what they're on about. I enjoy the exploration in this. If you go back and look at the world map of FF7 OG there's a bunch of locations but the world is essentially empty and they really went above and beyond for this game. Even on the cruise ship I was astounded. I keep expecting to hit some cut corners in location, but it has yet to happen.
The one thing I have seen is some super lo-res textures on things, but I can get past that easily as it's so trivial where they use them and so much content.
Yeah idk man. Every side quest I've done has felt very good. I'm not sure I'm willing to say they're Witcher 3 level but they're as close as a game has come since then imo.
Rocket Town/Cid were in the trailer so I’m pretty sure we’ll see them but Cid might end up not being a full playable character because he joins so late, kinda like how Red XIII was in the first game
Having a party member take part in side quests with you was a good call to help even the most mundane task stick out I think.
A complaint of mine that I haven't seen mentioned is towns, specifically merchants. Not the biggest fan of weapons all being from chests and shops only carrying ones you missed. Feels like it takes the air out of reaching a new town, because you lose that element of "I wonder what new gear I'll find!" At least QB booster packs slightly fill that niche. :X
I'm pretty sure it was like that for 95% of weapons in Part 1 as well though. I can't remember buying a single weapon. It's really just accessories I look for at shops.
didn't you play Baldur's Gate 3 silly goose
don't think the writing is good enough to compare to the genre's best side quests, but they have come a loooong way since the days of kill these rats then return to the same location to kill slightly bigger rats. not sure there's a single aspect of this game that isn't improved over Remake.
