Aerith is actually the one I enjoy using the least, her attacks are S L O W and I haven’t really found any use for her wards or protection spells. Everything pretty much dies fast enough or you can cheese with potions if you have to. Maybe it is different on hard mode and she gets a chance to shine there.

Yeah, that's what I remember from the first game - she's kinda too slow in normal mode, but her utility shines in harder content

boy they made gongaga just a little bigger than the original game huh. this does fold into my one real complaint though, these huge maps are beautiful but it feels like there should be like...30% more monsters running around, just a touch too empty imo

Oh, I actually think mob density is mostly fine. Kinda allows you to enjoy the views more without getting into fights constantly because there's usually enough space to avoid if you want to.

ye Aerith isn't the funnest play cuz of her limited mobility (same with Barret) but she's a powerhouse, strongest offensive character if you get her magic attack up + magnify + double cast

I think there's a mechanic with Aerith that I just don't understand and can't figure out. I'm doing the final cactuar protorelic trial in Corel. I figured out that if you get close to the melee cactuars, she'll physically attack them instead of doing her normal twirly magic attacks. But after doing this, I can't figure out for the life of me how to change back to doing magical attacks. Sometimes using triangle or an ability does it, but it's inconsistent. I keep getting stuck because I'll do the melee cactuars, then spend 10-20 seconds trying desperately to change back to magic attacks, wasting time.

Anyone know how to change her back to magic damage consistently?

Hold Square for Tempest, will switch her back to magic and buff magic damage as well

I'm maining Yuffie most of the time. As long as you can pressure a mob with an element - use Ninjutsu + Doppleganger and blow everything up, heck, even without elemental weakness she just wrecks havoc on the battlefield with aoe skills together with her clone

I like this, and will do it if needed, but god it's so seamless it feels like cheese. I *want* to be good at playing Tifa, like I mostly mained in Remake, but I suck ass at block timing and her ATB gain isn't as good because her focused strike got (rightfully) nerfed and since I suck ass at blocks she gets interrupted so it feels bad. Yuffie I just roll every few ninjutsu casts and circle around and usually I'm good.

I'm trying to figure out the auto-weapon and auto-unique materias, but I am struggling to get them to work how I like. Tifa can use unbridled but I'm not sure she's using her weapon abilities in her command menu, same with Aerith, was trying to put some wards in there but doesn't appear to be working? I was really hoping I could put like pro/shell on magnify on the command menu and have a unit keep pro and shell up, but barring that, I was hoping that I could have Red XIII use his AOE haste move, but I never saw him use it. So no idea how to get it to work how I'd like, or at least figure out how to get it to work in a better way so I could maybe main Tifa and figure out something for Cloud to do.

Auto Unique Ability makes them use their triangle moves (Tifa's includes the use of Unbridled Strength) the Auto Weapon Ability ones they'll only use the moves set to the quick use bars, they will NOT use spells put on the bars though, you need to link spell materia to Auto-Cast for them to do that.
