Aerith refers to the Midgar area as a "Homecoming" which is used throughout the game to mean returning to the lifestream, so I have to assume these dying worlds are held together in a pocket dimension in the lifestream. Maybe something like the end of time area of Loki with all the different versions of Loki.

Could be the Midgar area is so mako rich to allow this, or it allows it so it's so mako rich. Chicken, Egg, whatever.

I'll likely be consuming theorycrafting videos for a while here, but my overall is to not overthink things. And to note this isn't an "infinite multiverse" scenario. It seems like a new world is created when fate is defied, but most of those worlds die off shortly afterwards. There's no TVA to prune them, they just seem to instantly die. So there are likely only a handful of worlds at any time, and so far there are at least 3 different worlds (determined by the breed of Stamp) but some of those worlds have likely already died. For example Zack created two new worlds based on his choice to go after Hojo or go after Biggs, but he probably died in each of those and as such those worlds likely both died off. Which resulted in him going to the church where he met Aerith for the final battle. So that may already take us back to only two worlds, the one where Aerith is alive and main Aerith took over the body and is now with Zack, and then our main world. But I may need to rewatch some of the scenes because Sephiroth was already in those Church scenes, but I think Aerith was only there with Cloud and that was possibly a 3rd world not the Zack+Aerith offshoot. But I also haven't played any Crisis games so the theorycrafting videos also catch me up to the lore I missed in all of those, so it's been neat.

the events are being manipulated by Sephiroth and Aerith from the OG game, white whispers are being controlled by Aerith, Zack being alive seems to be unintentional but his existence seems like it might be throwing a wrench into things, Aerith seemed to believe she HAD to die in order to save the world, we’ve seen at least 4 different parallel worlds so far, the current one Stamp is a Beagle, the one we play as Zack in he’s a Terrier, the one Zack goes to see Bigg’s at the Reactor he’s a Bulldog and thd one Aerith and Cloud go to in chapter 14 he’s a Husky.

So yeah, in one or more worlds we DID save Aerith, which could come into play in part 3, we’re either going to save all the worlds and the Reunion will happen and the worlds will converge, or they’ll all remain separate yet saved and we’ll have to settle with “Well Zack and Aerith are alive…I guess”

Nah, ending was good to me, basically no one thought GoT ending was good. You can say Rebirth ending is "divisive" but it's not the total trash that GoT ending was.

I have no interest debating a "critic" or opinion article, but I went to that GoT sub link, and sorted by "controversial" posts and that post you linked is LITERALLY THE SECOND MOST CONTROVERSIAL THREAD IN THE ENTIRE GOT SUBREDDIT, which spans at least 10 years of threads. Meanwhile sorting the FF7Remake subreddit by controversial gets a few threads about too many minigames, don't like open world, and the top controversial thread regarding the ending is disliking the ending, meaning it has a ton of downvotes for disliking the ending. So yeah, they're not at all comparable on that front. Liking the GoT ending = almost the least liked thread of all time, disliking the Rebirth ending = one of the least liked threads.

Anyway, question regarding synergy abilities. You have the one type of ability that says it increases stagger multiplier and extends stagger duration, but I'm watching Maximilian_doods vods and he got one ability off that has this effect during a stagger and I saw no increase in duration or the % from staggers. So did I just not see it right? Or do you actually need to use this synergy ability BEFORE the enemy is staggered to get the effect? Cause the way the other stagger ability buffs work is they increase limit level, or grant unlimited mp, etc. for a certain duration of time after using them, so if an energy is at like 80% of the way to being staggered, is that the proper time to use that stagger ability, then when you stagger them, they'd have a longer stagger duration? Does anyone know a place that has been looking into those game mechanics?

Edit: Maybe nevermind on it not doing anything during combat cause he did it again and I watched the stagger bar go from 10% to 20% once the synergy ability finished, which is...not very impressive, but it did do something lol

And no. The extend stagger synergy just refills the bar by like 20% or so when it is finished. But you're right that the ideal usage would be using that to stagger the enemy and having it finish within the first 20% of the stagger, because the moves are weak and you don't waste any actual stagger time with the slow ass animation when you could be spiking the percentage and blowing ATB.

I dunno, I think most people are fine with the ending, the most people I've seen or watched complain about the ending are people here on BG tbh lol, I think most people realize it's not even really an ending, it's literally a mid point in the whole game, for all we know the ending is required to be this way because the ending for part 3 won't work without it.

See you're making up what my argument is. I said plenty of people are fine with it and that it's "divisive". That implies more of a 50/50 split in like/dislike, you're claiming the ending is GoT bad and making it seem like I think it's the opposite of GoT bad, but I...haven't said that.

And thanks for the confirmation on synergy abilities there, Max is working on Odin and I'm trying to pay more attention to the battle mechanics cause usually numbers and the like go invisible to me when I'm the one playing.

More non-spoiler thoughts now that I’m done and had more time to reflect. No particular structure here just random thoughts.

It’s so hilarious how every significant side character that lived in Midgar during Remake simultaneously and spontaneously decided to go out to the rest of the world as our main characters did

I appreciated how each region had a different color chocobo with different powers, it was a nice callback and alternative to chocobo breeding in the OG

The soundtrack might be in my new top 5 of all vidya ever

I appreciate that they give each main character their own section and time to shine, though like I said I hated playing as Aerith or Cait Sith

Appreciated the acknowledgments of Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus. Nothing groundbreaking but if ya know then you know

They sure turned Elena into a little cocky shit, she wasn’t like that at all in OG FF7 but I think the change is a welcome one.

Think they did a good job striking a balance between serious and silly shit for moments of levity but also like, the characters, ESPECIALLY Tifa, sure does seem to give Cloud a hell of a benefit of the doubt despite his multiple mental episodes

I think by the end I was starting to suffer from mini game fatigue. There are just SO MANY. I’m glad I got to experience it all but like, Cloud and the gang pausing their manhunt to race dolphins and play arcade beat ‘em ups etc really does distract from the urgency of the main story. I think if I ever do another full playthrough I’d skip the unnecessary mini games and see how long it takes to finish.

Favorite mini game BY FAR was the piano, followed by Queens Blood and chocobo racing. Least favorite mini games were cactaur quest, chocobo rings in Cosmo Canyon, and the little clash of clans-like thing in Cosmo Canyon.

Oh! One of the biggest improvements over battle from Remake IMO is the reduced instances of forced boss phase transition/cutscenes. There are a few but it feels like a huge reduction from Remake where there was just too many and imo it interrupted the flow of combat too much.

Things I expect in a future DLC and not necessarily part 2. End of game spoilers here:

I’m expecting a Cid and Vincent DLC. Probably the first half picking up in Temple of Ancients with Vincent escorting out the wounded Tseng. Maybe teaming up with Reno, Rude, and Elena. Then after the conclusion of chapter 13 it would transition to Cid and show us what he was up to between 13 & 14 because they show him saying something to the main party and he disappears before reappearing at the end with a brand new Bronco plane. Maybe he detours over to Rocket Town to grab one and we get his flashback and get introduced to Shera. I’m sure there would be new minigames and more Queens Blood since they already established Vincent plays.

They've already come out and said no DLC. Maybe specifically no "story DLC" I believe, so don't expect anything like the Yuffie DLC. I sure would like some extra expansion on some minigames and the sort though. Maybe more chocobo races, more queens blood opponents, etc.

I actually thought Elena was great. She's the new Turk so she had to be a little extra in your face to catch up to the rest and I feel she did a solid job to pull that off.

Now that I finished the game I felt safe to check out the VA list on IMDB. The actress for Elena was born in 2000, so you aren't that far off.

Fun fact, the VA for Yuffie is also the VA for Fuuka in Persona 3 Reload, Primm from Unicorn Overlord, and Chitose in Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth. She is having a hell of a start to 2024.
