That said...I am super impressed with the game. Hot damn it looks amazing and makes me think they really couldn't have done this better. I am not a nostalgic person but I am blown away with the overall presentation, this is my childhood here lol.

The game feels so familiar, and anything they've added and all the soft touches to the story just made it better, so far never worse.

I am officially current gen now with PS5 Pro, downloaded FFVIIRebirth and dang, for Leviathan and Ramuh it is asking me to import saves (from PS4 Era). No biggie, they are on cloud all I have to do is to hit download on the original one. But intergrade is on PC and therefore I can't import that save.

So I have to first fully download the VII Remake, Load Intermission, create a save then I can start VIIRebirth. Not to mention, this thing does not have a disc drive so these are all downloads. Man it shouldn't be this hard lol. Just check the damn thing on PlayStation account and reward those that have purchased the game. I mean come on they are not looking for an end game save either just "any" save.

Edit: Apparently I only have the PS4 version of VIIR...which does not have Intermission. OK. I have PS Deluxe and it's free up there, so I have to re-download the entire VIIRemake (PS5 version) now.

I really hope these 2 ****ers worth all this hassle.

I mean, considering this is SE the process is still pretty painless haha. Sadly, the summons are replaceable pretty fast, since they can't be upgraded like the one's you get in game

Ramuh gives a pretty solid stat boost as an attached materia. Leviathan too but he's mostly magic based. They can be pretty nice stat plugs for a good chunk of the game... but after a while I usually just had em on party members I wasn't using after getting the new summons soooooooooo

Leviathan did turn the tide in a critical battle so in a way they paid off

I recall someone here saying Rebirth makes Remake look like a tech demo, I thought he was exaggerating but holy hell he was damn right. The side quest and side battle structure in this game is amazing. After leaving Kalm I am 6 hours into the game still doing side quests and side hunts. This game is a smoking success.

IF only the side quest design in this game was in XVI as well...

Rebirth was a great game for me, especially compared to XVI and how bland it is in comparison in so so many ways

Which is unfortunate because I see all the ways that 16 could've been awesome, but feels like they wanted to play it safe after 15.

I wouldn't say the gameplay as much as the story pacing. Because the gameplay was merely kid's first devil may cry. But the complete a story segment, go back and do some slow world building with a past area, complete a story segment, go back and do some world building with a past area, repeat ad nauseum, was the real fun killer

And I hate realizing that the quirky weird "overacting" characters/NPCs of some earlier 2D/early 3D FF games weren't a result of trying to be expressive in a limited media type, it's that Japanese game devs are fucking weird and the corny over the top cringe stuff they enjoy sucks and is embarrassing.

When you say the music is bad are you referring to Remake or Rebirth? Cause I remember one distinct stinker in Remake (techno track in one of the tunnels) but Rebirth soundtrack I don’t recall anything that bad.

Honestly ^, Remake had some misses for sure but Rebirth was pretty much banger after banger for me like nothing dropped below an 8/10 (And honestly if this doesn't get GoTY then it really does need to get Best Soundtrack or w/e they are calling it)

Are you using Cloud / Tifa / Barret super moves? I didn't know they had them til the final condor fight.

IIRC, there's no downside to lowering the difficulty in the FC minigame. Still get the trophy and the awards and etc, etc. Just makes the game less of a headache

When you're doing the hard version, again it's been a while so I don't remember 100%, but IIRC it's all just about spamming and overwhelming the other side's main tower ASAP

There are also pretty decent videos on youtube for strats for each stage. It's not a very random mini-game so as long as you follow along with roughly the same timings, they should work for you.
