Optional parts that you don't like are not an "important part" of the game experience.

The mediocre ass mini game side content is a significant part of the game experience, and imo should be taken as a whole. You miss out on a lot of character exposition and world building if you don't do them. How would you ever learn more about Johnny if you don't do them?
They're just boring and I wish executed better. I also broke the card game way too early, like super early, and my deck just straight had a very high percentage of winning from before golden saucer or maybe even correl iirc. I thought I'd enjoy that card game more but how could I? The games challenge didn't hold. Not mad it exists, just honestly might pick the original game the next time I want to hit the nostalgia button cause rebirth is...ehh.

agree with Salo, i don't mind a thousand minigames and endless optional content, i just want it to be fun and feel Rebirth would've benefitted a lot from halving the side content and making it twice as polished.
the fact they added a second Chadley is proof of the depths of criminality to which SE will sink
But the game isn't just that. It's also the expansive zone you're encouraged to explore, that is mostly empty except for said mediocre content. The hunts would actually be neat here, but those devolve into just executing the game mechanic they want in the time limit, which is way less interesting than having unique monsters to fight (of which there was only 1 real one per large zone/act). They aimed very high with rebirth and didn't hit it mark on pacing.
Can't even really mainline the game and have an easy time imo cause you'll be missing out on a lot of gear, materia, and levels. You gotta do SOMETHING to level up unless you're just godlike on the dodges and whatnot. Or turning down the difficulty.

I mean we're not gonna get past the difference that it has amazing mini games vs your mediocre bit. But the game is STILL a short but fun experience even if you skip the optional content.
You just can't get yourself to do that to actually enjoy your game experience because you have to check boxes.
I don't mind side content and minigames and all that crap as long as it feels meaningful and by the time I got to Costa Del Sol, none of the mini-games/side shit felt meaningful to me. Everything was just becoming such an annoying chore, including the story
I still haven't finished the game cause I was just tired of all the mini game and checklist shit. And while technically they were optional a lot of them are introduced to you just in the course of the main story and really break up the flow of the game if you aren't feeling them and I most certainly was not feeling it. I don't mind a minigame here or there, but it was just one after another after another and I hadn't even made to the Gold Saucer.
I think it's ok for us to have a difference of opinion on that one. I see why some people didn't like the minigames. I didn't mind them, and again at that particular time in my life it was maybe easier to just be like 'ok I'm taking a break for now'.
I'm up in the air about the world feeling empty, but in some ways I'm measuring that against something like FF16 or FF14, where there were these large gorgeous zones but it felt more 'empty' to me.

No info about what's actually different about this one, because who cares D;
I like how they gave no info on whats new in the new version lol
I already addressed that if you didn't like the mini games you are wrong. Jk We're just not gonna agree on that. But yes, I do think gamers in general who MUST COMPLETE ALL CHECKLISTS despite not actually enjoying the process are the problem...for themselves. Don't know why you'd waste time doing stuff you don't enjoy.
But at this point I am convinced people think any open world zone is empty.
To think that FF16 and Rebirth have the same amount of emptiness is inane.
The only Hunt in XVI that was any good was the final one because you could unlock it at like level 30 when it was designed for level 50 so it was actually a challenge. I’ll stand on that ten toes down
Honestly, as to my own experience when doing the Platinum trophy for Rebirth, the only minigame I actively disliked was Gears and Gambits, all the rest I found enjoyable, Chocobo racing was legit fun as hell and I had wished there was more of it.
Chocobo racing was more fun than most of the offerings, but by the time you get to it you're burnt out on dull mini games and just want to main line some story finally. Like, I ain't getting knights of the round out of it, I'd only be doing it for the love of the game and judging from reviews there wasn't much love for every facet of the game lol

STILL THE BEST ONE REMAKE AND REBIRTH COULD NEVER
I mean given all the debate over minigames, my true hope is that with all this parallel universe shenanigens we get Jack Garland as an optional superboss.
