yrr i killed rebar and fiddled with some global Nvidia settings, grabbed a couple Nexus mods to reshade/juice UE/unspaghetti the code, and it looks gorgeous, but even so the stutters aren't completely gone in many areas. ah well mostly looks and plays a lot better than the PS5 after the tinkering.

    Sneaky part 3 release confirmation?

Yoshi P during the latest XIV live letter announced there will be a collaboration event between XIV’s gold saucer and the gold saucer of VII Remake trilogy. Historically, Yoshi P has said they would not do a VII collaboration until the full series was released. The collab is set to be in the 7.5 patch series, which, too be fair, is a window that runs from late April until possibly January of 2027.

Yoshida claims that the series is having a somewhat difficult time attracting younger audience, and as per a separate study 77% of Remake/Rebirth player base is 30 and older. 62% is 35 and older.

30/35+ players tend to day one most games at full price though. Nevertheless, while Yoshida claims that younger audience prefers fast, online games more we've got an example like Zelda at hand which manages to keep an audience of all ages interested....so its doable. I think what SE needs is a FF title (ideally XVII) that'll generate a hype attracting players from all generations.

Let's see whether going multi-platform from day 1 will help.

Nothing about marketing for FF7 screams "This is for you, kids!"

Like, the game doesn't even look fun. It looks like a story, a slog to get through, and lots of cutscenes where you sit there doing nothing. Kids don't want any of that shit. All of this sounds great for my nostalgia and older gamers, but kids don't want to touch this lame shit with a 10ft pole

It also doesn't help that they needed to play part 1 of the story SIX years ago for just a little taste(I would argue a shit taste too. Thanks time ghosts) and then played part 2, 2 years ago. And now are waiting to see the conclusion of the story... hopefully this year? next year?

And they can play this story for free or cheap on any platform right now if that's what they really cared about. It's just such an uphill climb for this nearly 30 year old plot

They tried something different with XVI essentially making it Game of Thrones styled Final Fantasy with DMC playstyle and got mixed results I think. Definitely leaned more into sizzle than the steak and I hope they learned their lesson for XVII when it releases in 12 years from now on the PlayStation 8

Offered my girlfriend's 10 year old son $100 to clear Remake, he made it to Sector 7 Slums (after dying on Scorpion repeatedly and needing guidance) and gave up. Dude has zero problem solving skills if it doesn't involve running forward and attacking. Small sample size for me (3 kids, 8-13), but they and their friends are all pretty much like that. Pretty sure we're going to see a generation that's just unable to do anything that requires much thought.

holy shitamoley there really are a lot of minigames

enjoying my time, game is better on PC despite the stuttering issues, but for them who have done it are the side quests that are actually questy worth it? i'm giving up on the Chadley world mission business for my sanity (besides the few that look interesting) but would yall recommend that side business or just mainline the story

you know those piano songs you can play?

the reward for getting all the trinkets in the game (comes from side games and other stuff) is the ability to play one winged angel on the piano

    so uh, no

for the most part, the side games will tell you what the reward is for 1st/2nd/3rd, you can figure out if any of those rewards appeal to you

but you can beat the game without doing anything more than the intro quest where it blocks progress

Most of the minigames give a very useful equipment piece for the area you are in when you first unlock the minigame.

If you don’t care about the platinum trophy which requires beating them all with the high score, the ones I would really focus on are the proto-relic quests for each region you travel to. Finishing them all will unlock some very fun boss fights and OP equipment once you reach the end.

    fort condor (but hard)
    chocobo racing (but too easy)
    moogle mischief

    and obviously queens blood

edit: I liked run wild too but too short

I honestly had at least a little bit of fun from all the minigames with the exception of Gears and Gambits, I just followed a guide when I was doing my platinum hunting to get through it.

But the best of them for sure was Chocobo Racing and Queen’s Blood

A lot of minigames just give you accessories. I would probably try to get the Chadley stuff done because that unlocks an entire boss and some strong equipment.

The piano stuff doesn't give you anything useful but nailing all the pieces on hard was pretty satisfying and obviously the music they're making you play is just nostalgia blasts for your ears.

Don't ruin the game for yourself by grinding out the Jules minigame for the Champion's Belt. It's absolutely not worth your sanity/fingers/controller.
