Red Wolves isn't vanilla enough, it would probably still offend someone. Either Native Americans since it still uses the color red or maybe furries

I heard Red Wolves is the name of a minor league soccer team here in TN thats trademarked so they couldn't use that.

Washington Generals sounds much better to me but I'm sure there is a team somewhere in the US that has that too.

They should have just gone for..

I think it’s the opposite actually. Red Wolves is pretty common across the country for several teams/sports. Plus it’s a legit animal. You can’t hold a trademark on it iirc.
