My gf's unvaccinated sister popped hot 2 days before her Hawaii trip.

Honestly surprised it took this long, she's been out and about doing things all pandemic as if nothing was going on. She's mostly fine so I don't really feel bad at all that it is at least inconveniencing her for her trip.

But what he said isn't true.

Regardless of where you are in the world every country currently has a similar reproduction rate and rate of growth for covid as we do. Mexico is spreading at the same rate we are despite barely being vaccinated. Cuba currently has one of the highest reproduction rates and rate of growth for covid in the world atm and also happen to be the 2nd most vaccinated country in the world.

Translation: All the people I know that avoided it never got tested because they didnt show symptoms, and its very possible that they caught it but were asymptomatic, something that occurs in unvaccinated people as well as per all the asymptomatic cases before the vaccines were even available.
