COVID finally hit our house, wife tested positive Thursday night. 6yo daughter and I were negative, 8yo son was inconclusive (maybe the faintest possible line on the test if you hold it at the right angle in the light, unclear). He also had a confirmed exposure in his class the Friday before.

Anyway, it put my 3-shots wife on her ass, she was sicker than I've ever seen her in a decade this weekend. Tried to get paxlovid from urgent care "test to treat" facility on Friday but they "didn't recommend it" for a 40 yo thin healthy woman which kinda pissed me off. She's starting to feel better today but still has a nasty cough.

Retested this morning, both kids and I were negative. (haven't tested the 3yo, will tomorrow morning before preschool)

Tl;dr get your Omicron booster if you haven't, it's probably saving me from getting infected and probably would have saved her if she'd gotten it. Going to make appointments for the older kids because it's approved for 6+ as of last week.

Rapid I'm assuming, so fwiw when I went through this with the wifey and I, I had an entire case of rapid kits to test willy nilly with. Both a day or so before my symptoms were really noticable, and a day or so after my symptoms were mostly gone except for my cough, my test had the faintest of lines. I could only tell it was faint and not just my imagination cause I watched as the solution climbed the paper and passed both the control and test line and it was definitely ever so slightly shaded pink. I bet if you tried it again tomorrow morning you'd be able to better tell with confidence.

That's such bs about not being able to get Paxlovid. A friend of mine who's in their late 30's and also thin got it with ease. Also in CA. Wish your wife could have gotten some, as she said it seemed to help her out quite a bit.

Yeah they pulled the same shit when my wife got it. She was sick as fuck too, and is just now getting over it.

My lead and his wife got it, they're late 50's, and they got loaded up with antivirals. Was mostly fine in a week, just the nagging cough remained for a couple of months.

I got the flu shot and omni booster Friday. Had super sore arm and body aches for two days, nothing else.

Well that was Friday morning, we retested this morning and there was nothing, so I dunno.

I have a coworker who got boosted only after he went through covid a few weeks ago. He says due to covid, he has lost sense of taste, smell, and hearing in one ear.

When I got it back in July I used a rapid kit. It was one that if a second line appears you are positive. Instructions said to wait 15 minutes. Mine started to show up immediately. ^^,

I hope your family feels better soon. Don't take no for an answer when it comes to meds. Find a Doc that will give it to you!

By the 2nd or 3rd rapid I'd assume the result was correct, especially if it's over 3 days.

Be glad she didn't get Paxlovid prescribed , that shit was given to me pre-emptive because I have mild reacrive asthma and overweight. The after taste of that shit far outweighed any benefit other than getting my smell back after three days vs the typical seven or eight coworkers did lol.

I don't take anything due to allergic reactions to majority of medications, like my allergy list evrrytime I go to the doctor is a 3 minute ordeal of asking me if I'm allergic to all these. Yes..yes I am that's why it's listed ffs.
Cough for me started days after I tested positive in May and then lasted about 5 weeks. The exhaustion for two weeks was like having Mono all over again.
