IKEA to cut sick pay for select unvaccinated employees.

At Ikea unvaccinated workers, who do not have mitigating circumstances, who test positive will be paid in line with company sick pay.

Unvaccinated workers, without mitigating circumstances and required to isolate owing to being identified as a close contact, could now receive as little as £96.35 ($130) a week - the Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) minimum.

Average wages at Ikea are between about £400 ($543) and £450 ($611), depending on location and, as is the case at many companies, staff get enhanced sick pay. The move was first reported by the Mail on Sunday.

Ikea, which employs about 10,000 people in the UK, said in a statement: "Fully vaccinated co-workers or those that are unvaccinated owing to mitigating circumstances which, for example, could include pregnancy or other medical grounds, will receive full pay.

"Unvaccinated co-workers without mitigating circumstances that test positive with Covid will be paid full company sick pay in line with our company absence policy.

"Unvaccinated co-workers without mitigating circumstances who have been identified as close contacts of a positive case will be paid Statutory Sick Pay."

Countries sorted by the percentage of population fully vaccinated. The next column in your glorious red white in blue show the reproduction number of the virus. Reproduction is calculated as for every person infected, they spread to X people. Excel gave red low numbers, blue higher numbers. In this case, red is good, blue is bad. Seeing as how the chart is sorted by population vaccinated, the list of reproduction spread should have the red up top, white in the middle, blue at the bottom: the countries with more vaccinated people SHOULD have lesser spread. In reality, the data is all over the place. Slovakia is reporting less than half of their population fully vaxed, and yet their infection rate is on the decline. Cuba is reporting 86% fully vaxed, and yet every infected person is spreading the virus to two others.

I cant be bothered to even find data from 3 months ago before Omicron became a thing, however seeing as how cases have spiked in December and January worldwide regardless of vaccination rate, climate, first/third world, etc etc, the original statement stands true:
Omicron gives no fucks about your vaccine.

Some of that article is funny.

Omicron was detected Nov 24, and was named a variant of concern 5 days later. Apparently Pfizer should have had an Omicron vaccine developed, tested and billions of doses mass produced within like a week or two.

Don't think that's what he meant, but I don't know the full context. To me "it was needed in December" reads as "if we wanted to have a significant preventative impact we would have had to start vaccination in December" not literally "should have pushed an untested shot".

A psychiatrist is a doctor, numb nuts, fuck sake. And while I acknowledge you're likely doing that shit on purpose I'm certain there's a part of you that actually thinks they aren't, and it's frustrating because you perpetuate this idea with other people who legitimately think as such.

I see patients in the hospital. I give them fluids, treat their blood pressure, mild infections, diabetes, cholesterol, and other basic medical problems. I am a specialist in behavioral neurology.

It's not complicated. Does Omicron infect vaccinated people? Yes. At the same rate as unvaccinated? No. Are the people with full doses or the booster the majority of hospitalized cases? No, and it's infuriating you ignore the math and as a result sound incredibly ignorant to why vaccination is so important with your concrete shit thinking "vaccine no good".

I've argued with demented patients who had a stronger grasp of this than you and children who handled it with more maturity.
