Some therapists are not doctors.

All official psychiatrists are medical doctors, and went to medical school.

Huge difference. Clinical psychologists are often called doctors, as are clinical pharmacists, but they don't have medical knowledge like a medical doctor would, much like a medical doctor may know some psychology but doesn't really delve into the "your hatred for children is because you were hated as a child" which can be countertransference more often than it is true.

I don't believe in psychodynamics, personally, but there's sometimes value in it. I think it's a stretch to connect "fear of heights" to "fear of advancing in your career" but I'm not a therapist.

Honestly I would probably laugh at a therapist colleague if I heard them say a patient is afraid of overseeing others because they're afraid of physical heights, almost as much as I laugh at fellow doctors who try to tell me their patient is psychotic because of drug use after giving them excessive amounts of Benadryl.

You guys just don't understand the cash cow that is covid testing. These places are making bank off every which way because of covid testing, which is why they both don't want to get rid of it but keep trying to limit it and policies surrounding it because companies are racking it in and honestly there's nothing they can do short of just saying "nevermind don't test".

Google says that yesterday there was 43k new cases in Florida. Even if we're generous and say that's with a 50% positive rate, that's at least 86k tests done in one day that will be paid out by insurance and the feds for a total of over $8,600,000 for one days worth of testing, and that's low balling it cause there's no way we're still at 50% positivity rate, so honestly add another 30-50% to that number. Just for the state of Florida! And you know Florida is suppressing those numbers on top of it, so just imagine daily the hundreds of millions of dollars moving hands just for covid testing...that we aren't even using very effectively!

They need to do something about medical billing in this country lol

The bills and collections still go through for months before anyone even notices! Honestly you have to be pretty brazen to even get caught. As long as you have the machines and people to run them, covid testing is a free cash cow. The demand is there!

ED sent me a fucking patient with a mania diagnosis (not established history) with a positive UDS for amphetamines. Someone that went to actual med school did that.

I imagine most of that would start with people who know nothing about medical billing refraining from commenting about medical billing.

Shitty places trying to rake in test dollars is not the majority. We're actively trying to avoid wasting tests in hospitals because it greatly limits resources due to the time it takes to perform them per patient.

What really needs to change is which facilities are allowed to perform these just because of the potential for scamming, much like stores out there rake in CBD dollars when it almost does nothing for the person buying it.
