My doctor friend said she has been encouraged to not get tested the whole pandemic so they didn't have to miss work due to popping hot. So not really surprised by any of this

It’s not quite the same in Sweden, but still bad. My cousin is studying to become a nurse and got sick with COVID while they were doing rounds working with heart patients. They were told to not miss a single day or they would fail. She thought it was weird and called them when she got COVID to see if she should stay home or come in to work and simply was told “Do what you want but you know the consequences.”

This is the new Secret. People that have worthwhile jobs that can make money are no longer testing until coerced cause why lose out on money when everyone who wants to be vaxed is vaxed, and omicron to a vaxed individual is nbd tbh.

And before anyone says wElL wHaT aBoUt ThE iMmUnOcOmPrOmIsEd, if society didn't rearrange itself before hand for them, it sure as hell isn't going to now. They're really not a valid excuse anymore, as evident by CDC recommendations and emails from hospital managements like Tyches

the cdc actually made this change for hcp as of the 21st so your hospital ain't lying. your hospital was just slow on the uptick

honestly i think the cdc is going to work off the basis that everyone has already been infected soon and make the adjustment for the public too. i guess it'll depend how much they care about the unvaxxed

Military has been getting there unless your CO takes COVID way too seriously (like mine does). Outside of the few random holdouts who are getting kicked out whenever the paperwork finishes processing bases will be 100% vaccinated.

Our base had a bit of an outbreak coming back from the holidays, and between the 500ish people on the base afaik we didn't have a single person need any major medical care and as of Thursday pool testing showed that the spread had already stopped.

Our CO went kinda stupid about it not allowing the students to leave base even though leaving them all in the barracks together was clearly making the classes infect one another, but w/e

We're only learning about this recently, a lot of people have been operating like this since the start. Some people really just don't care, even back when we thought the death rate was over 1%

Lol this has nothing to do with money and everything to do with patients not giving a fuck so if you're not sick we can't afford to be short staffed.

Omicron definitely isn't keeping patients in the hospital long term but that doesn't mean it isn't putting them in the hospital. Our cases already account for about 30% of our capacity with about 10% of the work force out because of positive testing. That is crippling if the person isn't symptomatic.

I've even had pathologists tell us depending on "how positive" the PCR test is patients may not even be contagious enough to be a concern. With Omicron not causing long term problems compared to other strains, the powers that be are just ready to get back to business as usual.

Too bad we're 2 years into this and we can't definitively say whether asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic people are spreading the virus. They likely are, but whatevs I guess

Can confirm, I'm no longer symptomatic but my PCR is still positive. My numbers have gone down though, I started at 1600 with my first positive, second test was 1200, and one I took this past week was at 800. Cut off is around 550 for negative, and it sure would be nice if someone put more research into how contagious you are when asymptomatic.
