Well they had fucking covid and were inpatient fighting for their life for a week, being a burden for an already completely exhausted medical staff, potentially spreading more covid to innocent people and said exhausted medical staff, and I have not. But yay for pretending magical wishes are real.
Have you ever worked in a restaurant? You know when like you're getting late in the night to closing time and then a group of like TEN people come in and just STAY and disrupt your god damn night. Imagine that except it's for MONTHS for TWO YEARS and people KNOW GOD DAMN WELL BECAUSE THEY'RE BEING TOLD NOT TO DO THIS BY EVERY NEWS OUTLET ON EARTH BUT THEY REFUSE BECAUSE "FREEDOM".
What if I told you the pandemic wouldn't have ended if they followed masking rules and were vaxed?

canadia has been enforcing mask laws to enter any public building since may 2020 and proof of double vaccination to enter any public non-essential building since september 2021 (the vax first arrived to the public in canadia in may 2021)
none of these restrictions have been lifted since they started
covid still hits canadia the exact same way it hits amurica. you can actually argue omicron hit us harder
I mean when you think about how most people "masked up" it makes plenty of sense to me.
Wearing shitty $1 masks. Wearing them under your nose. Taking them off to talk. Taking them off to sit down in a restaurant despite being next to 500 other people doing the same.
The thing about masks is that they only work when used properly and used by everyone. You can mitigate this to an effect with N95+ masks, but then you're starting to get back into impossible territory because maybe 10% of the population even listens to COVID advice past the first word. Or any advice. Or anything at all.
People dramatically understate the lack of interest, attention, care, etc. about pretty much anything. A concentrated effort to not only do something but to do it correctly is fucking impossible in western society.
Like, following masking rules isn't just putting on a mask when you leave the house.
It's putting on a specific mask, tightly fitting it over your nose and mouth with a clear seal, and then not touching it in any way or removing it for any reason until you get home, or at the very least out of a high transmission area.
At certain points that extended to wearing TWO masks, or a N95, or a KN95. You think the average household was watching COVID briefings and keeping up to date on the scientific recommendation for what kind of mask to wear? lol
That means no public dining of any kind, no public drinking, no chin diapers, nothing. That shit was not happening. Ever.
considering indoor public dining, drinking, whatever has been completely banned for 16 of the 23 months covid has been around, 50-75% capacity limits were happening for 5 months, and the remaining 2 months out of 23 capacity limits were completely lifted, you would be wrong
canadia has taken a completely different approach to covid than 'murica. it hasn't helped.
And "outdoor dining" was just an extension of the indoors for a lot of places. I did enjoy some of the individual igloos restaurants made. Those are going to stay for quite a while. My local pub likes them since it increases capacity. This of course being in cold climates.
I’m at Disney world as I type this and this week I’ve seen…
-Moving a mask down to talk louder over a large group of strangers
-pulling the mask up when walking indoors then back down the moment they pass a cast member
And my favorite
-removing their mask to sneeze.
sure, but that has nothing to do with the pandemic ending if people wore masks and were vaxxed... which is what i was responding to
"covid still hits canadia the exact same way it hits amurica"
that's not you?
