Were those eight incredibly uneven slices?

No, for singles they cut them in 6th.
I also have no idea how they don't go bankrupt with those pizzas. The cost is SUPER cheap and they do not hold back on that cheese.
Almost looks like 1/7th lol I moonlighted in an Italian restaurant during my college years. Flour and yeast are pretty fucking cheap. Even after labor it's like less than 2-$3 a pie, moreso with a heavy volume store, and you see them selling for around $20 regardless of who you order from. Crazy profitable

It's probably a loss leader. Though I think they likely break even now since they got rid of the Combo pizza. Fewer ingredients to order/store. They sell whole pizzas frozen for $10 iirc.
Yeah, the hotdog and soda is essentially a loss leader. They may make a tiny bit on the pizza's though. 12 dollars on a whole pizza when sold by the slice versus 10 if you call in and order a whole one. Wouldn't be shocked if the other items, especially at the volume they are ordered and sold have a higher profit line. Though I also don't think I've ever seen anyone order the chicken bake there.
I thought the whole point of those was to get you to the store. "Hey I'll get a cheap meal while I'm at it". They'll make it back with whatever else you end up buying that justified the trip. Just one of those word-of-mouth things also to make others want to sign up for membership. Shame the closest one for me is an hour drive away.
In Covid Ontario news, mask usage in stores looking roughly 50% here. Can't wait for the numbers to go back up again courtesy of new strain + the fact half of the people aren't wearing masks, meaning shit'll be spread about more easily, and hitting store products. At least surface transmission rates is low last I looked into it. Current active cases are just barely under the peak of the 2nd & 3rd wave, so whoopee, bring on the next spike in a couple weeks.![]()
Surface transmission isn't low its basically non-existent.
I dont mask up at the gym (inb4 thats dumb breathing heavier etc etc, I also believe that gym goers are in general more health conscious), but pretty much everywhere else I wear one. The building I live in has about a 60% population of people above the age of 50, and since last Monday, I aint seen one of these old bastards wearing a mask. Mask usage in retail places is on par with your numbers, about half. I've yet to have someone get in my face about masks not doing shit, but I'm not near downtown Ottawa nor am I a 130 pound manlet those idiots are comfortable bullying around.
I'm monitoring the case numbers though, and I'll probably be masking up at the gym in the near future.
Good to know.
People just need to be smart about it. Problem is the general public isn't smart. I live with a couple high-risk people, so I'm playing it safe when out in general stores. Mask mandate removal should have been a workplace-discretion thing, not general public. But good luck doing such a thing without pissing a ton of people off, so they went with the "Everyone fend for themselves" route instead.
I mean, if it's a mandate, it's for everybody or nobody. If there's controversy to removing it, then it shouldn't be removed. And if there's still controversy to it being removed even with cases at the post-omicron low, then honest to god, maybe it should never be removed. COVID cases absolutely are going to have a floor that is still unfortunately medically significant, so if that is past a point for many people, there's truly no justification for relaxing that measure. And I do mean forever.
I'm not saying I support it or not. Just saying, that's really the deck of cards we're dealt now.
I actually know a fairly large number of people that see the pandemic now as an awakening to a greater responsibility for community health. That rather than COVID requiring mitigations temporarily, we actually probably are just overly susceptible to airborne disease in general and maybe should have been taking mitigative measures way before now, and probably permanently going forward. Flu, colds, etc.
I'm not in that group, but I get it, at least. Why stop doing something that definitively keeps you healthier? If you're happier wearing a mask everywhere, saving money by no longer dining out or going to public gatherings... that's a good thing. Maybe we got too social as a society.
Because masks are oppression.
Late but afaik the hot dog has been the same price since the opened and I think the pizza only increased like 2 times.
It’s supposed to be a perk of being a member.
It’s also why they changed it so you HAVE to scan you membership now before ordering. It’s not supposed to be about making money, and actually member holders were getting frustrated with the insane lines.
Love me some Costco pizza and had some today actually. Lol
