So I saw this trending on twitter, there's this video going around called "watch the water", no intention of giving it views, but the gist of what people are taking away is covid is a hoax because it doesn't affect smokers enough, therefore it's actually snake venom in the water supply? Definitely hitting Poe's Law hard, but if I've learned anything the past few years most of the tweets about it are serious.
theres 200 million twitter users. at least 1% of those people are going to be insane, which is a shit ton of people
Jokes on them, I dont drink water.

Federal mask mandate for public transit extended to May 3rd.
California backs off their student COVID-19 vaccine mandate for next school year because it's still under EUA for under 16 year olds.

US District Judge from Florida rules that the mask mandate on public transportation is unlawful. And because it can't provide relief to those who do not want to wear masks, she struck down the entire mandate nationwide.

The decision Monday by U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle in Tampa, an appointee of former President Donald Trump, also said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention improperly failed to justify its decision and did not follow proper rulemaking.
In her 59-page ruling, Mizelle said the only remedy was to vacate the rule entirely across the country because it would be impossible to end it for the limited group of people who objected in the lawsuit.
The judge said “a limited remedy would be no remedy at all” and that the courts have full authority to make a decision such as this — even if the goals of the CDC in fighting the virus are laudable.
“Because our system does not permit agencies to act unlawfully even in pursuit of desirable ends, the court declares unlawful and vacates the mask mandate,” she wrote.
To follow up. The Biden Administration is recommending masking on all public transportation until the Justice Department can look into the ruling. They don't want to burden transit/airport employees with a mixed message.

Following the ruling of a U.S. district court judge on Monday, the Biden administration announced that the Transportation Security Administration will no longer enforce the federal mandate requiring masks in all U.S. airports and on board aircraft. Effective immediately, masks are optional for all airport employees, crew members and customers inside U.S. airports and on board all aircraft domestically, as well as on most international flights.
Delta employees and customers may continue wearing masks if they so choose. Wearing a well-fitting mask protects the wearer, even if others around them are not wearing masks.
Pandemic overrrr

Fewer people hospitalized or in the ICU with covid now than at any point since the pandemic first hit, and still dropping.
Can you provide some data reflecting that so I can show to some friends who are freaking the fuck out
Easy. Worry about themselves and not others. Keep masking until they're comfortable. Masking still provides protection for the wearer. Stressing about others' behaviors isn't fucking worth the stress.
And if they are vaxxed/boosted, then they need to calm down and slowly return to pre-pandemic behaviors.
But yeah if you're worried about catching covid you should get vaccinated and boosted and wear an N-95 when indoors around other people.
Looks like it's really flattening, I just hope it doesn't start moving back up. Home testing has made official case counts pretty worthless so hospitalizations are the best metric we have left (and deaths).
Is there anywhere to find out how many of the current hospitalizations/deaths are unvaccinated? That may also help some people's nerves.
I've seen numbers thrown out regarding that in articles before, but I don't know if there's any live tracking for it
