Y'all really love anecdotal shit over actual real life medical science for some reason. If you want to argue, argue with the New England Journal of Medicine and the 2.5 million test subjects used to acquire the data.

The people that make these vaccines aren't making an Omicron specific vaccine because they are bored. They're making a completely new vaccine because the current one is ineffective against Omciron after only a couple of months. That means for the old vaccine to still be effective you would have had to have 3-4 boosters in the year 2022 alone.



This isn't my math or my opinion. I'm quoting this directly, word for word, from arguably the most prestigious medical journal in the world. If you want to take issue with that, you do you boo.

Yeah you need to be very specific in the claims you're making cause you're making some first year rookie mistakes homey.

Also don't forget previous infection was a huge help against omicron, and we have no idea how many have been infected in total since the start. Just plain no clue.

omicron is practically a different virus entirely. i wouldn't be surprised if that vaccine does nothing but protect you from omicron and omicron alone, even if a new variant pops up

I mean, that's entirely my point and why at this stage of the game what archi is bringing up is completely and utterly irrelevant. Case numbers and all that shit has been well out the window since the beginning of 2022.

I can't tell you what the US believes in terms of cases/infections/blah blah blah but in the month of January 2022 the government of Ontario believes/estimates that 30% of the province were infected with Omicron in a one month time period. What that means for archi's fun little graph is that beginning in February, for 30% of my population, the 3-8 month immunity window for covid had already begun. You can do the math of where we are in that process.

We will absolutely see a massive covid spike again this coming fall/winter just like we did in late Dec 2021/early Jan 2022. If you are concerned about getting covid you want the omciron vaccine to come out before that 'cause chances are the majority of us, the vaccinated and unvaccinated alike, already had it. And more people died between December 2021 - January 31st in Ontario then almost all of 2020 combined despite 80% of that population being double vaccinated in that window.

Omicron went from 1% of cases to 99%+ in about 6 weeks, essentially completely outcompeting Delta in the US by mid January.

And of course within the Omicron umbrella there are sub-variants, the current surge we are under is mostly Omicron BA.2 and BA.2.1.12 but there's also a BA.4 and BA.5 seen overseas that may outcompete those.

tl;dr we need an Omicron-tuned booster, and it looks like we'll have one for the fall.

I've been on Paxlovid since I tested positive on Monday and the medication seems fine with no side effects for me which is ultra rare except one. The absolute WORST bile like aftertaste that exists in your mouth 24/7.

I'm not sure which was worse..no sense of smell a few days or this constant taste.
Two more days and hopefully the taste goes away soon after.

Funny thing is everything I can find supposedly its only a 6% of people who take it as a side effect, however I think that's partly due to the fact there isn't enough feedback yet on all the side effects and number of peoplebeing given it yet. Seems the most common though a few days in noticed having some minor stomach discomfort too, though almost ALL medications cause that for me with and without food.

Supposed to return to work Wednesday and dreading it because I am still fatigued as fuck. 20 minutes of light effort cleaning and I'm running a low fever again and exhausted and need to rest. And that's after using my inhaler.

28 puts him at the edge of the chickenpox vaccine in the US (introduced in 95), but Beibs is Canadian. Most of the world waits for our FDA to approve things before they rubber stamp it, so Canada didn't get around to it until 2003.

Also, to enrage Archi, Japan was vaccinating for Chickenpox since 81 with the same vaccine.
