I legit do not know if Barkley even played in 3/4 of their games this season? I have not seen a SINGLE highlight of him on Twitter, ESPN, legit anything. Either he has been terrible, hasn't played, or actually died last off-season and no one told me.

he was hurt early in the year and likely played hurt all season. had a bad ankle injury where you could see how swollen his ankle was when it happened

but yeah, not great

yeah a quick Twitter search of “saquon ankle” shows it was basically an issue all season long

not defending the pick, and also not arguing he really hasn’t been anything special other than his first year really, but most of his issues this year were probably injury related.

anyway his contract is up next year and unless he somehow goes off early in the year it’s hard to see the giants under new management re-signing him. even if he plays well he can just test the market elsewhere

to prove running backs pretty much no longer matter:

the eagles led the nfl in rushing yards and tds this year, and finished fourth in ypc, with rookie kenny gainwell, career backup boston scott, jordan howard who is constantly cut and re-signed, and an injured miles sanders (and jalen hurts). they did this while having 0 rushes for over 40 yards

the combined salary of those four rbs is around $4mil. combined.

if you don’t have someone like derrick henry it really doesn’t matter, and the titans made the playoffs without him anyway

anyway, having a good rb is good, paying them is not

I like how the Panthers are taking the stance of CMC is too valuable to trade away when it’s really the fact no one is taking on that contract.

Guess I can look forward to another 2-3 games from CMC and some Deshaun shenanigans for Rhule’s last season at the helm.

nerd math has proven that a teams oline and scheme accounts for 4/5s of a rbs production. the rb accounts for 1/5th of their own production

To be fair, Rothlesburger's arm was the equivalent of a wet noodle this year. Wasn't he only averaging like 3 yards per attempt the last few games?
