Baalke should absolutely not have a job but that doesn't mean Pederson is a bad hire. Dudes won a super bowl recently, when's the last time the Titans won a super bowl?

dougie fresh is fine as a head coach. my biggest issue with him was when injuries piled up in his last year, especially along the offensive line, he refused to make any changes to anything in the offense and kept relying on being pass heavy while wentz (and eventually hurts) were clearly getting murdered all the time. no effort at all to make adjustments based on personnel, which was weird since he had no problem doing that changing the offense to being RPO heavy after wentz got hurt in 2017

he’s probably the type of head coach where if things are running smoothly he’ll be fine, but if things aren’t optimal they’ll go wrong. it’ll be interesting because the jags have a good qb and at least interesting rbs on the roster, but if the OL doesn’t do anything it’ll be pretty bad

the jags still need help at receiving options too

at the end of it all, even with having perpetual injuries at key positions basically every year, he still made the playoffs 3/5 years so he was probably the most prestigious hire of the cycle, and probably ends up with the best/most promising qb situation also

pederson had OC interviews last year after he got fired, Seattle being the one that comes to mind

he interviewed with the saints this year and somewhere else. it wasn’t a random hire
