Ahh ok. Yeah. Just making sure you didn't mean that monster to the left lol. He was tough too, but that was the beginning of the game before I had done anything.

What weapons are you all using? I went with the daggers and have stuck with them. They're fully upgraded (I think. Not sure if there's some secret upgrades later). I've used some of the other weapons for a tiny bit as I picked them up, but haven't liked them as much. I am curious about the coffin weapon. Since it seems to be a parry weapon, I'm interested.

Whip start to finish here is my plan (outside of the times I find an upgrade in the wild and I'm forced to use that until the next save point), since the game was pretty much built around it as the first weapon, even though it's a fucking pain in the ass hitting anything that's hovering over a wall tile. Wish they'd make the whip at least reach further through a wall tile on a jump attack.

    I reached and cleared

Bone beach. So far I feel like it's the best area thus I've been through with regards to fun combat vs. map gimmick balance.

I need to do a low% run some day. I've been utilizing the multi-burrow + steady soles trinkets much fulltime after getting them, and they cheese every water section. Same for the wisp that lets me hover one extra square over pits.

I wish the dangle upgrade actually dealt any semblance of damage. Most I use it for is just clearing environment shit at this point.

victory. 28 hours with 83% item completion.

bad ending I assume. I did not realize this game was chrono trigger otherwise I wouldn’t have mugged that woman multiple times to start the game.

    anywho, time for item completion

It’s only 2 endings, but the “good” ending precludes you from getting a bunch of things, so the judgement scene is more a nod to CT and not the canon / 100% ending as far as I know.

21 hours for my first clear, 100%.
    Spoiler: show
Spent probably 4hrs near the end just backtracking and cleaning up collectibles. I really wish you had more means of travel unlocked later, since the Train/Mirror don't put you remotely near anything worth a damn, and the pipe shortcuts are hard to remember with this game's lack of decent map, and with how dense every screen in the game is.

I kinda rushed the whole Astral Orrery area as far as NPC dialog went. Was it explained anywhere how it came to be? Or is it just a case of "Spark magics lol"? First time I saw it in the telescope early on in the game, I figure it'd be the end-game area, but nah. Sure would have sucked to pursue it earlier though with lower level att/def

I'm kinda tempted to tackle the -1% collection achievement some day, but I'm a wait on some guides/routing for that, since if I'm to hit that up, I may as well tackle the other achievements related to specific kinds of modifier playthroughs. Hopefully the rest of them won't take as long to do in NG+.

I'd probably give the game a solid 8/10.

finished up, ending definitely feels weird

a bit too real I guess? lol I didn't dislike it or anything but damn I feel like I should've been given an opportunity for a better ending that isn't so tedious to achieve. I don't really feel like avoiding stupid shit like street lamps.

I felt the same way about the ending. Hopefully that means they already have ideas to continue the story.

All done with the game, though. 50/50 achievements. I did the NG+ trick to cheese the -1% run lol. I did not want to grind that out after doing the speed run achievement. With the NG+ trick, you can probably do both achievements at the same time, though, for those who don't want to deal with it at all.

8.5-9/10. More games like this, please.

What's the setup for it? I was under the impression anything you carry over into NG+ counts as Collected already, and the Pawn shop only lets you drop off 10 items/upgrades at most.

Doing -1% legit looked like a pain since you'd basically die in two hits to any boss without a couple specific trinkets or upgrades.

Start a new file with modifiers that auto completes all areas except for the first area (something landing?), and then the modifier that lets you unlock locks without kears, and then finally the one that puts you at level 98 in all stats.

Start the game. Unlock that first kear lock in the first area, and then go collect 4 items that you want to use in your NG+ and nothing more. I did Joule Injector, Vascular Syrup, and a trinket bag. I used those with the Mist Jar sidearm to basically be invincible. Once you have the items you want, go straight to the final boss, beat it, and then before starting your NG+ playthrough, turn off all modifiers. This will allow you to keep your level 98 stats. It will also keep that first kear lock unlocked meaning you don't have to pick up that first kear (which counts as a completion item). And, now that modifiers are off, it will also allow you to get feats/achievements again. Just make sure you turn off modifiers BEFORE you start the NG+ run on the load/file select screen. Turning them off in the start menu once started doesn't count.

Honestly, after going through it, the level 98 stats alone basically make you invincible. You probably don't even need any trinkets. With level 98 defense, all hits from enemies do almost nothing. Your main worry is environmental damage like pits and spikes. Those still do full damage, which is why Vascular Syrup is so good. Gives you time to build up plasma/heal.

Huh, so that was the trick. I'd have figured a save tainted by no-achievement-modifiers would remain as such in NG+s even after removing them. That's actually really good to know for the -1%. The others I can do legitimately off of my proper NG+ save I've prepared.

Did you realize you could claim the rings via both burrowing, and jumping out from the ground. That trinket is one of the best in the games imo just due to its QoL on

Beat the game with 100% item collection. About 35hrs but I didn't really rush anything. Only 18/50 feats so far, we'll see if I bother with all 50 or not. Not sure I want to do like 3+ full play-through any time soon. Solid 9/10 game for me. Definitely less Zelda like than I was expecting given the obvious GB color inspirations. Less Oracle of Ages and more Bloodborne. Also 500% more jump scares than I was expecting.
