Beat the game last night. I'm impressed that they managed to maintain more steady framerates this time around, but the graphical cutbacks are prominent 2d models in the distance, character models, terrain pop-in (grass, tree and monster pop-in has always been a thing, but the terrain one is new). I think six (seven) characters is too much. The side-effect of having so many characters is that systems overall are more simplified than I would have liked. I miss elemental strengths and weaknesses and was hoping that would continue on from X and 2. I miss QTE (but I can see why some people would not) and I really dislike the new chain attack. This game put me to sleep and I was bored playing it a lot. I don't think it's a bad game, but it's definitely the least fun I've had playing a Xenoblade game.
I never had trouble with healing, and playing on hard past the first 2 boss fights is piss easy. It wouldn't be a xenoblade game if you couldn't find ways to make it busted, but I'm shocked at how easily I broke the game apart (I blame that on its simplified systems). Music is ok, gameplay is just a tiny bit below ok. I prefer the characters and their designs a million times more than 2's. Had to stop using a signifer in my party because they basically ultra trivialized everything and I'm sure blue mage is going to be even worse with the right setup. Going to go spend my bonus xp and see how far from level 67 it takes me. I'm not sure I should bother with post-game if it's going to be this much of a cakewalk, but we'll see how I feel later.
This stupid track will be stuck in my head forever because of how much time I spent in chain attacks.
