Guy is paid like game-breakers, Hopkins/Adams, and just isn't close to their level. Cowboys made a good move just getting him off the books. statistically godwin and cooper are completely identical players over the last 3 years (both have 3.2k yds & 21 tds in the last 3 seasons). godwin was just franchised for 19.2m, so cooper is overpaid by 800k in comparison to a franchise tag? who cares lol

this wasn't like the julio trade where the falcons weren't realistically going to be cutting julio because they would've been eating 20m dead money that year if they did. he still had a contract with a high amount of guarantees ahead of him. ignore the player completely, guarantees make a contract itself worth something. coopers deal isn't like that. the guaranteed money is completely gone and they've made it known they wanted no part of him. if amari had been cut by the boys, which they were going to do, there was going to be no dead money on their books. and since everyone knew they were going to be cutting him that essentially made him a ufa

the fact amari was traded, and not cut, says his market would have been at about his current salary range. otherwise the browns would've simply let him hit free agency and paid him less money than he's receiving now. that didn't happen because they didn't think they'd get him any cheaper.

the exact same thing happened when calais campbell was traded for a 5th. his guarantees were gone and the jags made it known they were going to be releasing him

my only surprise is coopers age didn't factor into the deal at all because usually it does
