probably belongs in the random anime thread but Yoko Taro is collaborating with the creator of Fire Force for an original anime. CG which I know will turn a lot of people off, but I'm gonna keep an eye on it.
Nah CG looks alright there. I think if anime target it looking like Guilty Gear Xrd/Genshin Impact/DBZ Fighterz then it's generally going to work. I feel like they've set the look and feel really well there. The newest dragon ball super film also made it very nice, though that higher quality 3D I feel, a step above the 3 games I mentioned. I am starting to feel that if it's all in CG from the get go it's actually not that bad; but it's a hybrid then scenes where either it goes in and out of CG and/or it gets mixed in then it might be slightly offputting.
As for NieR I've currently stopped watching it, finding it hard to get back into it after that break, and now knowing there's a second break I'm just going to wait until it finishes airing![]()
A little bump I guess but relevant. For Summer 2024 cour 2 was released and with it came 12 more episodes and fully finishes Season 1. Totalling 24, I went back to the beginning and binged it, knowing now there are no more delays which kept putting me off initially.
Ignoring the awkward 3D on episode 1 the rest of it hasn't been that bad at all and I felt it gets better/well used. But nevermind that, I would like share that I've very much enjoyed all the episodes.
The best way I can describe why I enjoyed it was because it was like playing FFVII Remake and by extension Rebirth, if you were a FFVII OG enjoyer. Specifically, things either got expanded on and/or moved around to fit that it's an anime, and for that I very much enjoyed it for that. Also because it's an anime, bits that were text only in the game was allowed to be given more personality here in this format.
Some things found only in text dialogue in the game were animated and shown in anime format too, which was massively a treat.
I watched it all JP subtitled first and then I restarted with the ENG dub, going through that at the moment (for anime I watch the sub first and if I enjoy it I like to go check out the dub). I played the game in both so both were very familiar to me, but I think you'll appreciate that the game ENG cast came back and done the anime and it felt pretty much at home too.
For those of you who haven't played the game I would say it's somewhat of a better experience if you do most of the game first (complete and get all 5 endings) before approaching the anime. Those that played the first game (NieR Replicant) will get a greater value too, but only here and there.
I noticed they made a couple of story changes. In particularSpoiler: show
