Started playing Fire Emblem Fates with just enough time to download all the DLC.

I don't where to ask this, so I hope this is a good thread. I'm looking for a couple recommendations for my son. He's 7 and just getting into Pokémon. I never got big into it myself, so I haven't followed all the games that are out now. I'm looking for game recommendations for his age. I'm finding that maybe Let's go Eevee or Pikachu are good choices. Would that be a good starting spot, or would anyone recommend anything different?

Also, does anyone use an Android or iOS app for a Pokédex? He really wants a Pokédex for his birthday, but there's not really a toy version out there. Instead, I'm hoping I can find a good app that I can load up for him. Then I could probably find a good case to make it look like one.

I can't really speak to which games are better for a kid, but none of the Pokemon games are especially challenging. For the most part, they are very linear games that are often criticized for how easy it is to over-level the stories. In that regard, Scarlet/Violet are the only ones that could potentially be difficult because they are more open world and you can end up visiting gyms/locations out of order.

There is an app for Android/iOS, Pokemon Home, but it is tied to what you catch/transfer to it. Regardless of which game you go with, he'll be limited on what he can view in it.

Thanks for the info. I'll watch some gameplay vids and try to determine if it would be too hard for him. He played through Mario Odyssey mostly himself, with me helping on a few things like bosses, and that has been about a year ago. Most of the time now he just plays Minecraft.
I'll take a look at Pokemon Home. He plays Pokemon Go a little bit on our phones, so he's used to the idea of having to catch them before he can see their info.

This ditto event is incredible -- I'm only missing one and I'll have 5 or 6IV dittos for every nature.

Took me close to 70 dittos to get all natures and I got a 6IV ditto on the 78th.

You can pass its nature to the baby if you give it an Everstone before breeding. That said this isn't a ditto specific feature, it's just convenient

Y'all can just buy mints. Don't understand why you're farming 20 dittos for nature spread. Having just two or three randomly natured with overlapping 5 IVs covers pretty much all breeding bases. And the real perk is getting easy Destiny Knots from this, no?

I hear people care about this because using mints doesn't actually change the nature in the status screen, only the stats and for some that's important

Yeah I meant more that I wish I knew about it in the past. This gen I go with the mint, don't care what the status screen says lol

I believe you can just buy destiny knots in one of the stores.

Anyway, Pokemon inspires lots of OCD-like behaviors. Some people only catch legendaries in pokeballs, or only in premier balls regardless of how long it may take. Some people only do certain pokeballs for shinies. Shinies themselves are a similar issue... the pokemon is the same regardless of how it looks. Some people like breeding pokemon and having the status screen reflect their efforts etc. Some people EV train rather than buying items and so on.

You can easily just bottlecap, mint, and vitamin your way to perfect pokemon nowadays if you're willing to just farm money and never do anything breeding related. I, unfortunately, suffer from breeding related OCD-like behaviors.

Some people might just want the whole ditto collection. Personally couldn't care less but I can understand obsessive collectors.

I've been trying to build a full ditto set in Home for a while, so finishing it out/replacing what I had with 5 or 6 IV options this weekend just made sense.

But also, I'm definitely in the same camp as Nivlakian. I breed all my competitive teams and will even breed replacements rather than using EV reducing berries. I had a box of Ferroseeds on an alt in Shield because I tried so many different builds..
