    New PC - Trouble with audio and headset.

    So have my first real snag after putting together a new PC.
    POST, BIOS, OS Installation, Driver Updates, all went easy enough.
    Because reasons, I needed a wireless headset, got a Steelseries Arctis 1 Wireless.

    I set up the steelseries. Things, work. But not in quite the right way.

    First off. Here's the current layout of my setups.

    Old PC info
    Spoiler: show

    Mobo = ASUS Z87-A
    OS = Windows 7

    Old PC > (DVI) > monitor [no audio]
    v > (audio jack) stick mic
    (audio jack) standalone speakers or (audio jack) headphones

    Behavior of the old PC
    -
    Audio through speakers, unless I plug in headphones, in which case just outputs to headphones.
    With the voice changer program on. Mic only outputs if I have another program on that uses the mic, or if I turn on a listen button in the program, otherwise silent. (The meter in the program reacts, but nothing actually outputs that I can hear unless I hit that button.)
    I also have things set so if the voice changer program crashes, nothing outputs from the mic at all.

    New PC Info

    Mobo = ASUS X570-P
    OS = Windows 10

    New PC > (HDMI) > Monitor & Built In Speakers
    v
    (usb dongle) > Headset

    Behavior of the new PC
    -
    Audio automatically switched to headphones when I added them, but didn't switch back to monitor speakers when I turned them off.

    Additionally, the voice changer program is continuously broadcasting the mic, and outputting to monitor regardless if listen is toggled on or off, or that all other audio is coming in through the headset.

    Toggling listen in the voice changer program makes mic output through headphones, and is the only time it outputs through headphones. While it still outputs through the monitor speakers at the same time.

    Also, even with the headset turned off (both at power, and the mic mute switch on), Windows 10 detects a mic and says something is using it, a Desktop App Web Viewer.

    I've tried making the default device settings identical to what it was on my old system, no joy in fixing anything.

    Considering that I'll be streaming, I really need to get this sorted out to baseline before I try getting other things running.
    If any additional info is needed, feel free to ask.

    if you click the speaker icon in your taskbar, are you able to access a pulldown menu to toggle between your output devices?

    Yes, which solves changing audio back to the monitor with headphones off, though I would like it to do it automatically like my old PC.

    But the issue remains of the mic always outputting to monitor no matter what I do.

    I'm testing old mic on new PC, and headset on old PC.
    Will report back, may be a while.

    Edit 1: Tested the jack mic with the headset on, on the new PC. Same issue, mic outputing to monitor and headphone at the same time.

    Edit 2: Removed USB dongle for wireless from the new PC, windows automatically changed output to monitor, so that's nice, but not quite what I needed on that front.
    However, with nothing plugged in, the icon in the bottom right still says Desktop App Web Viewer is using my mic.

    Edit 3: I plugged in the wireless dongle to the old PC. There was a brief moment where windows was outputting to both speakers and headphones, but it sorted itself out and everything started going to headphones only. (And changed back immediately after I unplugged it.)
    No issues with the voice changer program, besides having to manually change to the headset mic (which I'll assume was only because both mics were plugged in), everything behaved as usual.
