Wild. I think an argument could be made that it was a smart play by republicans. Let the court take the blame and wait for the tea leaves. Once it was apparent that this was not going to be popular and risked vulnerable seats, have those legislators express outrage and vote to repeal it. Courts come out looking like...well ..a conservative court. State lawmakers avoid getting their hands dirty if they don't have to.

I don't think that's what actually happened. I'm sure it just blew up in their face and they reversed course.

Controlled substances have to have state reporting and verifications. Your name. The drug. When you picked it up. How many you picked up. Louisiana will create an entire database of women that were prescribed those drugs. Holy. Fucking. Shit.

It was 19 weeks and not viable. It was a fetus. It never took a breath.

I don't think she should be jailed, but she shouldn't be chucking dead fetuses in the trash either. I think this is a fine middle ground all can agree to.

She should have been able to get the dead baby aborted too. You take away that option and don't have the knowledge of what else to do, this happens. Poor girl was probably out of her mind after having to deal with birthing out a dead fetus.

She's 24, bleeding out and having a fetus fall out of her. She wasn't thinking clearly obviously. Sure it's fucked up and in hindsight she probably could've handled it way better. I've watched women go through miscarriages personally and professionally and it's a lot happening all at once.

This is a case that I'm not proud of my state. I mean, you can't plan for a miscarriage. She prolly wasn't thinking very clearly as others have said, but you shouldn't throw it away. Give it a decent burial or at least call 911.

But yeah, she should of gotten counseling, not treated like a criminal for that.
