Wife's best friend is having her second baby, she's in her second trimester.

Just found out that the baby has Downs syndrome. She has to go to another state to get an abortion, and spend the night there because state law requires a "consultation" 24 hours before an abortion.

Frankly, the conversation needs to be less about mentally sanitizing it and more about accepting reality. It doesn't matter if it is or isn't murder beyond the emotional pretzel of a being arguing it trying to signal the particulars of their alleged virtues. It be inconsistent anyway to be up in arms about it as murder while being indifferent as a society overall or embracing it otherwise. Pregnancy is a choice and that is that.

Kentucky laws since Roe was overturned are basically a total ban, other than the life of the mother at risk. They're going to Ohio, which passed a "heartbeat ban" which is anything after 6 weeks but it is held up by a legal challenge, so for now they can get one there up to 22 weeks.

Do you really want people who don't want to raise a kid with Downs syndrome to have to? Serious question.
