Almost 20 minutes of pure fighting and over 700 pulls... oof, what a fight.
I salute the people that have the patience for that. I get burned out just doing EX fights.
So apparently TPS lost HOURS of Prog by trying to do a second loop instead of using Tank LB to save Hauchefant...
Second clear of DRU. A group on Aether.

There is also apparently video of the kill now too.
Arthars just cleared in what seems to be World's 5th:

TPS has finally cleared (they haven't been able to play for a few days because of everyone's PTO running out)

Something I found interesting:
We believe that people use the aforementioned tools to expand the HUD and display more information because they feel that existing functions are insufficient for tackling high-end duties. In recognition of this, we intend to review the most prominent tools, and in order to discourage their use, endeavor to enhance the functionality of the HUD. Though it will take some time, we're determined to make it happen─not least for the benefit of those who play on consoles.
There is a point where the HUD is insufficient and could use updates and where people are using tools cause they don't wanna think as hard. Wonder where SE is gonna go with it.
I imagine the use of automated callouts during the WF video is the catalyst of the outcry.
I think they don’t want XIV to get in a situation that WoW is in where fights are designed around people using third party tools because they know everyone is using them. With a large percent of XIV’s players being on consoles they can’t do something like that less they put many of their players at a severe disadvantage.
Raiding community wants harder raids and complains about easy content. SE creates hard raid. Raiding community uses tools to make hard raid easier. Rinse and repeat lol.
Welcome to any game designed by - and played by - humans.
We want what we want, even if its self-defeating. We'll do what we want to get what we want, again, even if its self-defeating.
At least the hardcore can have their hard content (Not using 3rd party tools), and others can use the third-party tools if they want to. Seems like a win-win to me. People are going to bitch and act like stuff is too easy because... it...makes..them...cool?!?! i don't know.
for the tech inclined, is there a way they can specifically kill callouts? Assuming no because my understanding is that things like ACT simply read the log and vocalize it
Yes, you can fully customize ACT. You can make it so it doesn't do sounds or call-outs, or redirect the pop-ups off-screen if you wanted to hide it from a stream (That of course wouldn't make it as visible while doing a run).
I'm asking if the devs can specifically kill the callout functionality of things like ACT
O, you mean the FF DEV's. Not without A LOT of new coding, considering ACT is just reading logs that the game uses to function.
Its possible, but not in a way that makes the game easier for them to code or better for the average player.
You really dont want SE trying to re-design how their code works. They can't code for shit as it is, and having them go BACK and redo something is just going to give us yet another instance of them making 3,000 engines instead of just using fucking Unreal like everyone else and wasting time and money.
I can't think of any way they would ever be able to actually stop ACT triggers from working other than implementing anti cheat software that actively prevents ACT from running
