I get what he's trying to say, but at the same time...its a very stupid stance that gets repeated. Most UFA's will sign their big UFA contract at ages 26 to 29. AM started playing at 19, gave Toronto zero UFA years (lol), and will be signing his UFA contract at 27. Marner started at 18, had one year of ELC slide, and based on his NMC years, his first UFA year will be when he's 27. Tavares signed his UFA contract at 28 and will take him to 34.

Do these armchair GM's expect players to just sign a UFA contract that will take them to 30 because "well the numbers show that players decline at 30, so I'll just sign a 3 year contract and forego the job security"? They complain about long contracts, but they also complain when their team doesnt get the high profile UFA.
