can anyone point me to a good guide (preferably video) for how to play Miyabi's team? I still haven't fully built it which may be part of the problem, but after clearing one Assault boss with my Yixuan team I tried another with Shoukaku/Miyabi/Yuzuha, and it didn't perform as well as I'd have hoped (especially given how OP people hype her up to be) so I assume I'm doing it wrong or just don't understand how to play her. the couple videos I've seen with that setup were just recordings of a fight with no real instruction/tips

Personally, I'm running Miyabi/Lycaon/Astra. Just not a fan of how kaku controls.

I've been doing Miyabi/Yanagi/Astra for a while personally.

I would only use Soukaku in the mono Ice team with Lycaon, but that team is pretty hard to play because it relies on pretty specific anomaly timings between the normal Ice anomaly and Miyabi's special Frostfire, on top of Soukaku being pretty clunky in general IMO.

The popular Miyabi teams right now typically use some combination of Yanagi, Astra, Yuzuha, Alice and Vivian.

Miyabi's pretty simple in practice. She needs 6 stacks to use her turbo enhanced basic attack. You never want to do it with less than 6 stacks. Her ult will give her 3. She gets 2 any time she inflicts Frostfire on something (when she fills up the anomaly bar). At M0 she cannot repeatedly trigger Frostfire on something, it needs to be removed with a Disorder (or have its duration expire naturally) before she can do it again to that enemy. The other way she can get stacks is by her teammates inflicting Disorders, which also gives her 2. Her EX Special will also give her 2 stacks every time she uses it.

So, generally, you want to use her regular basic attack chain and her EX special to build stacks up, then use her hold basic until it automatically releases the level 3 hold basic. When you can't currently trigger Frostfire (because you just did) and don't have enough energy for her EX skill, you usually want to swap to someone else who can trigger an anomaly or Disorder to get her stacks that way, then switch back to Miyabi to trigger Frostfire again for more stacks. Repeat until the enemy dies.

Yanagi, Vivian and Alice are all really good partners for her because they can all trigger some kind of special Disorder quickly, which gets you more stacks more quicky. Yuzuha is really good in general because she increases anomaly buildup by a lot.

gotcha, the Frostfire cooldown I think is what I wasn't grasping properly, I'd have good burst and then fall off. also will I want Yuzuha->Miyabi->other anomaly, or Miyabi->Yuzuha->Other, to trigger quicker and get back to Miyabi?

With Yuzuha I generally have Yuzuha > Miyabi > Whoever so that Yuzuha's quick assist sends me into Miyabi. Yuzuha's anomaly build up bonus applies to the element of the next hit after her EX skill so you generally want that to be whoever is doing the most anomaly damage. With Alice you might want it to be Yuzuha > Alice > Miyabi but in generally I just prefer the quick assists always sending out my main carry when possible.

It should be noted I am not an expert at most Miyabi teams, and who you have after Yuzuha might really depend on who the third teammate is. For someone like Yanagi or Alice I don't think it actually matters because they trigger special disorders without actually having to fill up the anomaly meter. If you were trying to use Burnice or something then you'd probably want to be quick assisting into Burnice to help her proc her anomaly + trigger the disorder quicker.

building Vivian now, but just understanding how to reset it and build the frost again already is helping.
since I want (but don't necessarily need) Yidhari, are either Lucia or Vivian's M1s good enough that I can start prebuilding pity? (I frequently pull like that, if a character isn't a must have for me, that way it's kind of a win-win, a good dupe or closer to pity)

Add Nicole into that. I had 29K on the big robot last Deadly Assault and there was no ice weakness. Team was Miyabi, Nicole, Astra.

True, Nicole + Astra is just a strong pair in general for a lot of Attackers.

It feels good when you decide to come back from a break, a great new character drops and you manage to get her and her w-engine with 30 pulls (with a bonus standard S w-engine, too) :D
