I enjoyed all remakes in the series, looks like won’t be regretting preorder.

Ugh this is gonna be hard to wait on. My buddy is coming out to stay with me a week in May and we always pick a game and anime to watch together. RE4 Remake was the game I picked this year. But I want to go into it fresh so it's a surprise for me too. I have spoiler protection enabled on Chrome. I want to see nothing.

It's not like I have nothing to play. I might go through Trails from Zero/to Azure now that they're both officially out to tide me over.

The demo was way harder than the original game if i recall. I thought I could be clever and chokepoint the enemies and knife em down but apparently knives can break now? Rough.

This is such a dick move head shot kick knife was the go to way to conserve ammo in the original.

The main knife can be repaired and upgraded, you can also find disposable melee weapons. The knife can also parry moves now, so it can still serve as an important part of the gameplay.

Playing Mouse/Keyboard, I actually managed to stay alive long enough for the bell to go off and the village to stop attacking me. For the life of me though I can't remember where I found the house with the shotgun. Found it once, never been able to get back in again.

I was running around like crazy just avoiding mobs and didn't find anything special at all. Then I saw YT videos that showed there's a ton of stuff hidden around, lol. Impressive for a small demo like that, but I decided to just wait for the full game anyway.

I saw a lot of cool speed running tricks today, some are from the original but some are new I think.

- e.g. you can shoot the church bell to skip the first village sequence
- you can use the rocket launcher to skip the TNT like mentioned above, to also speed up the wrecking ball sequence or destroy the flaming Salazar head (granted it can be destroyed normally by shooting the barrel inside it, but that can't be done from the bottom of the room)

Mercenaries is out today

Kinda wish they updated it to be more similar to what 8 had - with special power, pick ups, buying and upgrading weapons etc - kinda extended the longevity of the whole thing for me.

Also, the only unlockable you can get from this is the Handcannon for main game by getting S rank with all characters, whichever stage. I guess that should be easier than completing a professional run. Got S with Leon on my first stage, then A when I tried each character after unlocking them, so optimizing for an S should be rather easy.
