I've also read it might be pretty wasteful to farm trace materials past level 5 traces until you're TL 50 because those domains get better at the next world level, whereas the XP book/credits domains do not get any more rewarding. So in a perfect world you'd probably be getting all your traces to level 5 and then just farming XP books/credits until you hit TL 50 since you need a billion XP books anyway. It's tough to wait that long to fish for some usable relics though.

So, is it better to save all of my energy refills until account level 50 or does it make sense to burn them to try to grind up to 50 faster? Just hit 40 in the last few days and finished all of the story/quests so I'm assuming 50 will be end of June? at f2p speed. I never played Genshin so I don't know what kind of 'speed' I should expect.

I've cleared all of the first tiers of the simulated universe and am working to level up more characters for the 2 party challenges in the forgotten hall. The 2nd tier of SU is rough...seele + tingyun isn't quite the free carry anymore but I'm also under the suggested level.

Also, good lord I need a lot of mats but the min maxer in me is torn between waiting for better efficiency at the next world tier and just burning refreshes now. Halp!

It's definitely better to save the fuels you get for 50+, but whether or not you can stand to wait that long is another matter entirely haha. In terms of priority farming, I'd be farming XP books first to get everyone you regularly use to 60, then weapon XP to get your main weapons to 60, then trace materials to get everyone to level 5 traces (6+ are kind of expensive and the calyxes get more efficient at world level 4), and once you're done those if you're still not TL 50 I'd probably just go back to farming books and credits because you're gonna need a shitload of each.

In particular I'd try not to farm relics heavily until 50+ because at 50 you get one guaranteed gold and a chance at a second one. It's a big jump up in efficiency. You're gonna need a billion books though, and those don't get much more efficient at 50.

It's always more efficient to wait, but TB50 seems like the sweet spot to idle without fuel. Makes the current event pretty easy if you're all L60 with all but the most trivial traces and basic attack leveled.

ok I'm done grinding and I'm only rank 46. what should I grind now for the post-50 prep? I think we said books are one of the best? I mean I could grind anything but a lot of these resources are going to be come more efficient once we hit equilibrium 4

Everything gets better with E4, so it doesn't matter too much. If your traces are L6 except for basic attack, then you're pretty set. Could farm some money to upgrade your good relics to +6 as that's a good power boost.

I think books don't change at E4 anymore.

I did my traces to 5/6, then ascension materials for 3 characters (thankfully for MC you get those for free) then started farming books and when I hit 50 I barely had enough to level two characters to 70.

I would NOT farm for trace materials as you will need boss materials to get shit past lvl 7. You'll need a fuckload of xp books, money and light cone xp things so I would farm those. 5* characters need 20 of their elemental things to ascend them so you could farm those as well. Farming at lvl 46 you should be able to get a good stockpile of everything, I think I started farming xp books and money at 48 or 49 and was able to level up two characters to lvl 70. I think I needed like 55 purple xp books to cap a character

Like I said above, I think level 5 (maybe 6 for some really good ones) is a good spot to stop leveling traces before 50. The thing with traces is they're a guaranteed upgrade, where relics kinda aren't (main stats sure, if you already got relics with good one's then that's fine, but substats are another story).For me I decided to wait until 50 for relics since that's when you get a guaranteed gold with a chance for second - that really improves the farming rates. And even then, I'm still not gonna do that until I level up characters and light cones.

There's almost zero reason to not upgrade hat and hands as those are static main stats. The rest depends but +6 purple or +9 blue damage type is pretty cheap and gives a huge boost. More than anything else I've noticed. Battle pass also gives a metric ton of materials doesn't cost much, and really gives you a leg up on the TB 50+ farm. You can also get credits and leveling materials in the shop if you've been pulling on banners.
