I actually didn't know they redid cutscenes in this
Lol, its like a MMO cutscene. Generic turn to NPC 2 >> shrug emote >> hand gesture emote >> point emote >> shrug emote.
I can deal with stilted animations, but if you're going to bother voicing a scene, at least time the pacing of the animations around the voice delivery and not the other way around. Otherwise you just get ....that, where it's waiting on the next animation to start alongside its attached voice clip. This is about as bad as some of FFX's worse, back when they were still figuring shit out. Should I be giving them shit for not making use of modern tools to for automating lip-syncing as well?
They redid the cutscenes? I think they're pretty much identical to the original game, just upscaled. Horrible voice acting and all. I doubt they'd spend the money to re-record everything and redo the cutscenes for what's essentially just a money grab.
Except they did record all the lines for congruence with Ff7r part 1 and part 2. The original CC didn't even have a lot of voice acting, it was mostly speech bubbles
The direction and quality of both the script and voice work is pretty fucking bad and I'm not looking forward to part 2 having a bigger role from Zack
People getting mad a PS2 era remaster plays like a PS2 era game.
It had a significantly smaller budget(according to the game director, they had to work on a super small one) than aaa’s. It actually came out only 2 years before XIII and a year after XII, both had remarkably better sound acting and script. XII had a budget around $50M and XIII about 75, excluding marketing and other activities.
Remember the recent Bayonetta discussion about sound acting? I guess this is what a 2-3k job is lol.
On the other hand all those “named”, well credited actors like David Hayter, Sutherland and the whole Xenoblade cast likely got paid much more handsomely and it is very well reflected on quality. I mean, mgs is a 1998 PS1 era game.
It took them an additional $25M to make a worse game going from XII to XIII?
Apparently so, development costs have been increasing steadily in general. I think it was above $100M for GTA IV(2008).
So since I heard that the performance on switch is pretty good
Can we expect a port of ff7r on switch or it’s an other level of performance needed ?
Finally got to beat it. I never played the original. What was added new in the remake?
I enjoyed the game alot. The random upgrades was weird but it worked for what it was

I think it was mostly just combat changes and the buster sword stance/proficiency? It has been way too long since I played the psp version, that is just all I remember being new.
Only combat changes, graphic overhaul and english voice recast. Otherwise, it's the same.
