denuvo don't matter much unless you wanna activate 5 copies, but the headline is true, this game runs like ass. might take a break and wait for a couple patches, the capital frame drops are so bad and all my current quests are there.

My computer can generally stay at or around 60 fps in the major cities without turning to FG, so it's bearable given there isn't any combat going on there.
I've largely just been exploring the entire world, since there are ways to get around the checkpoints or other kind of blockades keeping you out of Battahl or the volcanic island
assuming you have an 09 Chris Johnson tier PC and even then it runs about as bad as anything currently does for you. i'm sittin at a 3080 12600K and this is prolly the worst a game has run on this PC.
7950X3D and 4090: shit dips to 70ish in cities. I get better fps than that in Cyberpunk w/ mega ultra ray tracing mode enabled. This is another firmly mid-gen looking game that performs like a next gen one, I'm interested to know how they've gone about making the NPC AI to have it run so shittily
It's a laptop with an i9-13900HX
Like I'm not saying it's great, the difference between the cities and the rest of the game is astoundingly jarring, but it's bearable since I'm not doing anything other than running around or taking to peope
Been seeing people complaining about the pawns calling people gay for having a full party of men and that just makes me chuckle.
I think the issue is probably the adventures we saw EA go through with the frostbite engine. The RE engine is just not designed for big open world RPGs, and they probably ran into a bunch of problems trying to pigeonhole the game into the engine. Basically Dragon Age Inquisition 2.0
Might not bode well for the next Monster Hunter since they seemed to imply it's a big open game
Monster Hunter presumably won't have dozens of NPC AI cycles running at the same time causing your CPU to eat shit
Well, dozen of monster AI, but yeah, probably not the same scale
The monsters in DD2 don't seem to cause the same problem as the NPCs. Big battles against a group of a dozen goblins doesn't tank FPS to 60-70, but standing in Melve can. It's something about the way they made NPC AI work specifically. You'd expect something like a Griffon would cause a much bigger load than a couple of beggars milling around the street but that's demonstrably not the case
Like you'd assume that probably a good 90% of the NPCs are just useless filler, but for some reason the game really wants to keep track of everything they're doing.
Gives diablo 4 "we need to load everyone else's stash who is in town with you every time you open your own stash" vibes
Snowflakes lol
Think so, same thing was present in Monster Hunter World where it would keep track of the AI of every monster on the map at all times
So, I'm definitely liking the game but it sorta feels like 2 steps forward, 2 steps back in some aspects. I'm about level 30, mostly exploring the world. Trying the spear mage and it's fine? idk I miss all my utility as a thief lol
You have to get to like level 6 to really get Spearhand rolling. The ranged kamehameha attack and the invincibility ability are both OP as hell
This game absolutely feels like Itsuno just ignored all the improvements Dark Arisen had made to the original. iirc he didn't make the DLC, so he's just building on what he did in the OG release while ignoring all the improvements made to the system that he wasn't responsible for.
I'm only lvl 17 and still sword and boarding it. Shields and cheap healing feel busted in this game. I'm probably just bad, but I find myself running around at minimum health a lot and just keep pushing through areas. As long as you pop a healing item before your death animation, then you don't die, so I've just been keeping a healthy supply of apples and junk on me at all times instead of crafting it into better things since healing amount doesn't matter with 110 HP lol.
Another silly thing to prevent myself from going back to town: load up a pawn with all the junk I've collected, yeet them off a cliff or into the brine, and pick it all back up from storage later.
