Founding fathers were all a bunch of "elite society" fucks that shouldn't be held up to any standard nowadays. Had some good thoughts at the time but it's been way too long now and they had no accounting for how the world would change even with fucking basic industrial age. The fact people jerk them off still to this day is beyond me.

The founders knew they couldn't be trusted to govern responsibly if given unchecked power. Anyone who thinks they were flawless demigods of reason is delusional as fuck.

The constitution and US government in general were designed to be changed and serve the needs of people to prevent revolution. Like I said, their ultimate ignorance was ever overlooking the power of idiocy in a population who ignored political parties and unfair taxation.

Then you have idiots who think we shouldn't have any taxes. Taxes weren't the problem. It is now "taxation" but poor governance while they pay themselves your money to do jack shit about the problems they caused.

And Republicans are way more guilty of that shit and they know it.

Having all roads for amending the constitution run through government branches was pretty stupid in hindsight. There's basically no chance to get something through in the current system.

I'd feel like mandatory constitutional conventions every 30 years where things could be reviewed, added, or in some cases removed would help. No breaks. No vacations. No distractions. If you want office when that time rolls around, you're in there until sessions resolve unless you're dying. And at which point, you best get a replacement. I'm torn on if some things should subsequently be put up to national vote (namely removals), but that would fundamentally require some overhauling to our process including stuff like election weeks, holidays, standardization of mail-in, freely available factual documentation detailing at-vote policies/candidates (no hypothetical mudslinging bullshit), etc.. Whether we like it or not, people should also be incentivized to vote through potential tax breaks or just a straight check regardless of who they vote for or where on an issue. Nonetheless, stagnation plays a big role in disenfranchisement and we're long overdue a modern day New Deal after 46+ years of trickle up and chipping away at rights. While you'd still get those who just vote straight along party lines, making the process more accessible and dare I say informative would help. Right now we're too deep on the individual having to do independent research if they care to and whether or not their info is trustworthy is certainly suspect.

Good policies would stand the test of time, but I fear under the current system we'll never see Citizen's United overturned, lobbying restrictions, prohibition of using government info for personal profit, affirmation of the separation of church and state, term limits (including the SC), and age caps as a few things sorely required these days. We're gonna have a hard time seeing "for the people" politicians as long as the current corrupt crop can remain intact. And, y'know, toss the pedos into the wood chippers regardless of what side they're on. Sorry not sorry if that makes me an accelerationist.

Look man we don't have to follow the Constitution, we can just... not, you know? So disappointing of them to not agree with this.

Pretty funny to compare it to a suicide pact, though. That's something that people famously always do and don't just wait for the most enthusiastic people to die before walking away from.

SCOTUS has struck down the Louisiana redistricting effort.

The VA SC has also put a bar on their redistricting effort and the vote may be nullified.

If by less than ideal you mean the deathknell for a Democratic majority in Congress, permanently, then yeah. Red states will simply be redistricted like the above and blue states that try the same will be struck down, like VA just was.

It's pretty clear the courts don't give a fuck about consistency and will just rule however helps their political party wield power the way they want to. Why people had faith they'd protect the VRA is beyond me. It won't feel cemented until the midterms and next presidential election, but honestly idk how this gets fixed without violence and heavily disruptive social behavior.

It doesn't, those are the only two solutions.
