Jersey gets a bad rap, but there is comparably solid education and healthcare, great beaches, shorter commutes (though more frustrating), a third of it is farmland (you can pay and pick pumpkins, apples, raspberries, etc), its between two major cities, walkable distances to things in town depending on ones residence, everything is generally nearby or within ~30 minutes instead of hours away, second only to Alaska in it's percentage of preserved land, a semblance of public transportation (trains, ferry, buses, north has some light rail), diversity in people (notable Portuguese, Russian, Italian, Ukrainian, Polish, and south east Asian communities, etc) ; food; and environments including mountains and forests, and so on.

Sure there are drawbacks from taxes to humidity to traffic, but there is a chance that my overall quality of life wouldn't be better in another state. I guarantee it wouldn't be in at least three fourths of them. It would have to be a state like Vermont or something though.

Also, the people can't drive for shit, and the beach is full of needles. That's about the worst of it, though.

What, when you drive past Exit 13 in the summer? Yeah, there are a few spots of heavy industry in north Jersey before you hit NY that smell, but that be the same as saying all of NYC smells like piss, rat shit, and the homeless.

but to be fairrrr almost all big cities smell bad. you get used to it but you get away from them into nature and it's instantly like oh right that's what earth is supposed to smell like

You had me until half a dozen states (especially Pennsylvania..) defected and alt right militias gunned down people. Lol, not happening. Unfaithful delegates? Sure. Close to 100 electoral votes from several states? No. If chaos did descent the only way alt right militias are going to come out in force outside of isolated incidents is if the National Guard and Police cant control the rioting. Then they will gladly come kill people, but given we haven't seen things fall off the edge this extreme yet. Then it is just doomer liberal Twitter porn. Precedent may mean nothing to the SCOTUS, but several of those states aren't about to end the union.

Hey, even if they did then good riddance. The only problem with that is the imperial power vacuum and short term instability that causes globally. It certainly be better for countries in Central/South America, Africa and the Middle East, and South East Asia/Pacific.

with that being the case then, what's even the point in voting? if the state legislature can just pull the UNO Reverse card and do whatever they want? at least right now you have the Governors and what not that are a form of check, if this case goes a bad way then it would just be a sole authority with unlimited power picking the president however they want wouldn't it?
