I've met maybe 5 or 6 people from BG or FFXI IRL, don't consider any of them real friends.

Met a handful of people from XI and would consider them friends (otherwise I'd have not bothered meeting them).

I live in an area where people are generally pretty flaky and suck at making connections, plus I didn't grow up here (thank god). But closest friends are probably some online buddies I met in HS. Still in touch with two or so people I grew up with, well as my old boss from retail. Cool thing about that crowd is months can pass, one of us can call the other, and we just pick up where we left off.

I used to think people were BSing me when they said I was really good about keeping in contact with people because it didn't seem like a big deal. But, coming from a family where folks were often spread out or moved around a lot, you just sorta learned to do it.

Most of my irl friends are people I met through my kids or my husband.

I have some close ffxi friends though, and met my husband through ffxi. Semi-cheating btw as when I met my husband a lot of his irl friends were playing, too.

My bestie and I have tons of fun but I wouldn’t have her touch an mmo with a ten foot pole. She’s not into this kinda stuff.

Old bestie (passed away) wasn’t into this type of stuff, either. But it’s bittersweet because he was the one that introduced me to ff on the snes wayyyy back in middle school.

So in the past few days, with some members of the Supreme Court signalling they'd overrule decisions preventing states from banning same-sex marriage and birth control, House Dems passed laws federally affirming same-sex marriage and the right birth control.

I hang out with Tyrath on average at least once a year though covid has impacted that recently.

A pretty significant percentage of my friends are from online originally. Mostly AOL chats that stayed together. Now discord chats. We do a yearly meetup on the Fourth. Had like 23 people this year.
