Kansas'll resume the race with Idaho et al for most regressive state in other policies again tomorrow

Protest vote for Bernie/Stein, join Yang's 3rd party, let Trump win, blame the Democrats.

Astounding just how swollen the balls of the liberals are to sit there expecting elements clearly not represented by their party. To come play the beavers for them and dam the Republicans out of victory. Anything less risks the lives and well-being of arbitrary swaths of society. As well as being morally and mentally inconceivable.

It isn't a protest vote to choose who you feel best represents you. If that is Yang to some neoliberal, Stein to some delusional hippy, or Bernie to someone looking for a center-left view instead of center-right, then that is the right choice for them. In the end the Democratic party is at fault for not winning over voters. It will always be their fault because their job is to fucking win over voters, and they don't do that. The only thing seemingly keeping them alive outside of sensitive suburbia is not votes for them, but votes against Republicans which have to go to them, and that is a failure for everyone.

I don't agree with that sentiment, at least not entirely. The difference comes down to the mind of the voter and how devoted they are to achieving their end.

I am forced to wonder how much of the KS vote was the GOP outsmarting themselves and people who would have voted Yes hearing those "a vote for Yes is a vote to protect reproductive rights" ads and voting No instead.

I don't think we care at this point, but honestly I imagine a lot of the vote for Yes came from churches having the signs plastered outside. It was definitely a religious line being drawn, though I am somewhat confident there was more trying to trick people into voting yes to protect women than yes to protect reproductive rights based on the signs I saw. "Vote Yes, the real way to protect women and children. Vote no if you like killing babies (basically)."

There were 534,134 votes to reject the Amendment. Dem Gov. Laura Kelly got just 259,306 votes in her primary and the three Democrats running for the U.S. Senate combined for 254,953 votes in theirs. So more than half the votes to reject the amendment came from Republican voters.

That's a LOT of people accidentally voting the wrong way. Like I know lowest common denominator and all, but that's a stretch.

The sentiment that seems to be most agreed with is that it doesn't matter what the party is. It doesn't matter who they run, even it was Hillary, despite not wanting it. There is no choice if you support X or Y belief or cause than to support the party.

Per the NYT: "In Hamilton County, which voted 81 percent for Mr. Trump in 2020, less than 56 percent chose the anti-abortion position on Tuesday (with about 90 percent of the vote counted there). In Greeley County, which voted more than 85 percent for Mr. Trump, only about 60 percent chose the anti-abortion position. We can talk about the cities all day long, but Kansas is known as a rural Republican state for a reason: Rural Republican areas cover enough of the state that they can, and almost always do, outvote the cities.”

That is a disturbingly high %. Even though it's less than the total for trump.

A 25% gap between Trump support and abortion ban support indicates a very high amount of white voters that can be persuaded by self-interest in abortion. Cutting into whites is precisely how Biden beat Trump.

It's pretty low for a deep red state. I'm actually shocked by those numbers

But they don't. Wealthier Kansans in urban areas tend to tip the scales and demographics are slowly shifting. I'm not saying Western KS doesn't outweigh the urban vote in most cases, but it alone is not responsible for election outcomes in every case.

You REALLY have to squint to make a "things are improving for Democrats in Kansas" case
