Getting policy on the ballot instead of politicians with parties attached to them, I think, is one of the big ways to beat regressive right wing power plays.

Safe to say if this had been attached to a R/D race or a policy platform, it would have gone the other way.

You can expect that the pro-choice vs. pro-life will help a lot of Dems, but I agree that a generic Dem doesn't get this same amount of boost vs. the flat issue.

No, they don't "somewhat give a shit" about you.

That entire response was rather sad to see. Just the extent of depth of despair your thought process had to go through to reach the "no choice, but to vote blue." The hope, the delusion, and the self-reassurance of it all that others just have no solution, at least no viable one.

This statement doesn't require a solution though: If this is the extent of your institution. Then your institution is not worth preserving. It is beyond reform.
Okay, then the institution is not worth preserving. Now what? You gonna take down the system that the majority of people just deal with and don't have any intention of taking down? It's not like you can suddenly "not be a part of the system". You're in it, and even if you don't like it, that's all there is. There's simply not enough groundswell to change it, and I'm not sure there ever will be.

Look at the other side. You had a group that was FAR more motivated, planning, and successful in the short term when it comes to repeating Roe. Will it stick? I don't know, but you have to look at the decades long campaign and go "Oh, so if you DO manage to slowly go about this, you can change things." Problem is, those folks are rich white men.

Again, I ask, if the solution isn't "vote blue and try to reform", then what is? If you don't pick that choice, then what other option do you have other than to just sit there and not engage at all? What conceivable action can you take that will realistically change things in a world THIS resistant to change? Don't live in a fantasy world where you get to not vote for the lesser evil. It does not exist, and will not exist.

How defeatist, with the "there's not enough groundswell to change it." It is stuck there because of people like you. Who show up and vote only to go back home and pretend there is no hope to be had. Yeah, it's not worth preserving, and i won't vote to continue it. Go ahead and blame people like me, but it's just denial on your part as you desperately seek to scapegoat in an attempt to feel better about it.

I'm not interested in theory crafting or going beyond that with you since I'll just get shit on anyway for that opener.

I'm not blaming people like you. Not engaging is a valid form of protest.

I'm saying you're irrational if you think that also won't harm you in the long run. I'm not looking for a scapegoat: The system is fucked. It has been, it continues to be, and there is no signs that it will be changing any time soon. But it's the only game in town, and the only real possible way currently to get ANYTHING to change.

It's already harming us. They aren't the only game in town. They just run the town. The Dems are part of the problem. It literally doesn't have to go past that point. No "wutchu gunna do 'bout dat"s or what have you.

What other game is in town? And it literally does go to "wutchu gunna do 'bout dat". You keep saying that doesn't mean anything but it does. I said the only actions are to either:
    A. Vote for Dems for incremental change.
    B. Vote for Republicans and make things even worse faster.
    C. Do nothing and things get worse slightly slower.

    What is option D?

Option D, vote for a loser.

I'm at a loss of empathy for this impending doom viewpoint of C. Its demonstrative of a flawed line of reasoning. Which isn't a slight at you, understand that. It just shows buying into a manufactured understanding of the situation. One based in fear and partisanship instead of a deeper understanding. Voting blue no matter who is not collective action. It is collective resignation.

D has the exact same outcome as C. C is not an impending doom POV. It's reality. This is the reality we live in. Would I like there to actually be viable 3rd party platforms? Yes. Our system of government is not designed to support that. For that to happen you'd practically have to rewrite the constitution and go for something more like what the UK has. High ideals are great, but unless you also have some grounding in reality, shit won't get accomplished.

Again, I point to what the religious right did. They said "Okay, long game, put conservative judges into place so we eventually have control of the courts and can strike down RvW." That took what, nearly 50 years? And again, who were the people who were able to accomplish this? What did they have in common? I'll give you two answers: They were white men in power, and they had lots of money.

If you can show me a minority group that has money and power, then that's the play. Until then? The only option is LITERALLY picking the side that fucks you over less. Right now, that side is the Democrats.

Or to put it another way, how many fewer black deaths have their been at the hands of police since the BLM protests?

    My guess? Not very many.

I'm not sure if I made it clear enough. That I don't care about a solution. None of which I agree with would be embraced here.
As I just said above. For me it doesn't need to go past not giving the Dems a vote. That's it. Let's keep it as simple as that.
The Democratic party is quite possibly worse in my opinion than the Republican one. Not on the totality of each party ideology, certainly. The democrats themselves are a greater bulwark against even progressive right-wing ideas than even the Republican party is. Which is of little surprise considering both of these parties are firmly right on the spectrum.

I don't think Spicy would vote for a far left progressive/socialist rep/senator (or even a state assemblyman/senator/rep, etc) if the candidate was a Democrat.

He must hate the Squad and likely believes AoC is a Dem shill.

Lol what a genuine piece of shit

Yeah dudes I'm super progressive like in ways you wouldn't even get and that's why the party that even has a progressive branch is worse for that agenda than the one that actively murders women and minorities

Your take on political reality is so tiresomely cookie cutter predictable that I wouldn't be surprised to learn you're a NIMBY.

If the candidate is your typical local liberal variety or a Biden, Hillary, Obama, Yang, Buttigieg, Harris, Bloomberg, Beto, Warren etc then no. Does that mean I would never vote for a Democrat? No, but the party be extremely unlikely to run even a center-left like Bernie. Would I vote for him again? Yeah, sure.

Squad isn't worth hating. Getting excited over them be like going wild because someone gave you some old vanilla Dippin' Dots.
