Stop kidding yourself. For the few cases that make headlines for liberals to foam over. Like an old man getting knocked down by police or some woman going through hoops for a life-saving abortion. Who tells themselves they are a good person because they believe in LGBTQ or womens rights, and that if only the Democratic party win these people too could be liberated. Who is really concerned about X item of the moment before going back to their life. Who shows up to the polls to vote for Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden to make sure there is at least the chance at some minor concession. Keep telling yourself that, and maybe it might happen.

Phew, good thing I don't feel superior to anyone here. That means I am safe.

Love Spicy saying there's so little people who don't vote it doesn't make a difference when voter turnout can barely reach 50%.

I mean, if your whole goal is complaining about the system, yet you refuse to participate, I'm pretty sure that instantly makes any argument you make about said system moot does it not?

As I just said above. For me it doesn't need to go past not giving the Dems a vote. That's it. Let's keep it as simple as that.
The Democratic party is quite possibly worse in my opinion than the Republican one. Not on the totality of each party ideology, certainly. The democrats themselves are a greater bulwark against even progressive right-wing ideas than even the Republican party is. Which is of little surprise considering both of these parties are firmly right on the spectrum.
    Oh I see, you're a moron.

Like in the other thread where in Kansas presidential elections, Democrats have not hit 50%+ of the total vote since LBJ in 1964? Where there are about 40% more registered republicans than democrats? Where voter turnout was 70.9%? Where the national turnout average for the 2020 general was 66.8%? Okay.

Hey, why do the democrats never care enough to make voting a national holiday or provide protection to those who can't leave work to do it and have other obligations? Until COVID they didn't even make a serious attempts to push voting by mail in. Biden certainly isn't burning any favors protecting it from republicans trying to halt it state by state either.
I guess they will get to that right after they campaign on codifying abortion rights into law once more. Only to drop that like a hot potato again while you guys get upset at Manchin and Sinema.

What are you talking about? A couple of years ago, Democrats tried to make Election day a national holiday and the Republicans called it a power grab.

2016 margins were in the 5 digits the idea that shit heads like you who don't vote are not responsible is laughable.

Nearly half the states have some kind of election day holiday. I wonder how many are blue or red?

Couple of years ago they weren't in the White House. Can they not get the 50 votes to make a patriotic holiday?

59.2%. It was the last time I voted for a democratic presidential candidate.

It's really easy to blame the people who don't believe in voting. No real evaluation of why there is such a lack of participation really occurs. Especially since it occurs so starkly in black areas, and Democrats pretend to care about-- I mean, need those voters.

Like said, they tried, McConnell said he would Filibuster it.
Republicans had all branches of government recently and they didn't make it a holiday either. Why aren't you shitting on them?

Feeling the same way about these arguments now as I did the first hundred or so times I saw them from Bernie Bros. Loving the idea that you think death as a result of letting the GOP win is an exaggerated stance weeks after Roe v. Wade was overturned. "OMG you're exaggerating" what an effin tool.

Republicans know they don't benefit from it.

Difference is, I see it as a neoliberal winning either way. Mine and your material reality stays on the same path.
I don't salivate over the mere idea of concessions from the ballot box like you guys. Concessions as you see, such as with Roe v Wade or Obergefell v. Hodges are just that, and they don't last as long as the underlying system remains in tact. No, that system is not scarey republicans coming for your school teacher's gay wedding photo to be removed off their desk or sending abortion rights back to a state level.
So yeah, I really don't care if you guys sit back and get upset over your culture war or what your aunt said about Trump on Facebook.

It's legitimate to say the system is broken.

It is not legitimate to say the system is broken, refuse to participate, but also refuse to fucking do literally anything about it beyond stare at it and complain that it's broken.

That's like standing next to a two story house where the roof is on fire and someone is on the first floor banging on the door to get out and you have the only key. Yeah, shit sucks that it's on fire. Unlock the fucking door.

Did you really not live through the four years of Trump.

"neoliberal winning" is by NO means guaranteed and often is at severe risk, like literally right now.

Hey, I voted for Hillary in 2016. Aren't you proud of me? Same teamsies, right? If she won do you think today look much different? I certainly don't based on whatever objective reasoning within a limited understanding that I can muster. In fact, here we go, this one is going to upset you. It is possible that Trump was the more preferred result of the election. As among other factors, it hastened the decline in US unipolarity. There could be a whole discussion on the rise of Putin and Xi Jinping creating a more multipolar world order.

Which is neither a condemnation of those leaders nor a condoning of them, which seems to be a distinction several of you can't handle around here. Frankly, I don't care what the feelings on them are like the whiney ass democrats and republicans and their voters do. As they get up on TV to start posturing by calling them brutal, killers, authoritarians, or whatever else they recycle, which is a bunch of smoke and mirrors.

So, I look at a country like Ukraine having a US backed coup take place to install Yatsenyuk. Which clearly resulted in a necessary response from Russia which took form in the annexation of Crimea. While the situation there is far from simple. The US certainly helped create the current mess, and even under nice guy Obama no less, oh no. Seeing as the US neoliberal strategy hinges on influencing the decisions of and suppressing Eurasia. Using Ukrainians as cannon fodder certainly benefits the imperialist core of nations in those aims. Which has been the historical plan of action in the Eastern Bloc and Asia, anyway.
Let's keep this tangent of any random incidents of US unipolarity going though. The US coup of 2019 and their unsuccessful attempt to suppress Bolivia's population in the recent leftist uprising, and their inability to carry out yet another coup this year. Keep in mind Bolivia has the world's largest lithium reserves. How about Russia countering the US planned invasion of Venezuela in 2019. Thanks to Russia sending its military and assets to the country as a deterrent at that same time. Something that would have never considered for even a second without the clear decline of the US dominated hegemony. So on and so forth, but I wonder if the result of Trump was actually the lesser of the two evils you guys keep going on about instead of Hillary. For example, multipolarity tends to result as a deterrent from war directly with the applicable powers. In this case US, Russia, and China.

Meanwhile, you guys just absolutely lose your shit over a fucking supreme court seat going the other way. I just don't have reason to believe that the material reality of the general population alters its course if Biden won or if Trump won. I don't share your preoccupation with abortion rights despite my shared discontent because concessions come and go, and the overall machine stays the same.
Poor people stay poor. Wealth inequality continues to grow. Working conditions and real wages decline either way, by design. I just don't care because it doesn't move the needle for me compared to these more exciting and meaningful aforementioned factors of politics.

This is not to say my thoughts are any more valid or superior to anyone's here. I know for a fact I am not the smartest guy in the room. I do wonder if I am the only class conscience one though. So fuck the "burning house". It will likely need to burn eventually at the rate is continuing at, but it certainly can not be "saved" through reform. Least of all the constant, and desperate hope of it that keeps getting ushered in as if it is some ironclad logic in the face of a badly dealt hand. Heavily debt ridden declining empires experiencing increasing levels of political polarity and inequality in it's populous rarely resolve well. Neither Trump nor Biden altered nor are altering that course.

Sure you're liberal, but are you "fucking people a third of your age that you met in their freshman year of high school" liberal?
