this made me laugh, all this over fuckin this lmao. how bad are (non-right Asians) minority acceptance rates going to get with affirmative action yeeted and naturally no social program to aid historically fucked communities in lieu of it

At UC Berkeley, black enrollment fell from 5.9% in 1995 with affirmative action to 3.8% in 2022 without it. Probably pretty comparable to what the Ivys will do unless they, uh, don't want to. Since the Ivys already yeeted SATs they can just use personal statements to find the black kids and elevate them if they desire.
losing that 2.1% of black students is what's going to turn this country around brother
Everyone should just change their name to John Smith and leave the race block blank on their applications. Problem solved!
hard agree
Dave Martin, also acceptable
you do realize i referenced a forum element there
maybe we can get his middle name in there next time
I'd argue Alito...and as an observer. By a clerk on a meth induced psychotic episode. Or he could fall off a billionaire's yacht.
Robert's court is going to be seen as probably the 2nd or 3rd most destructive court in history and if Dems do manage to flip it in the next decade, it'll be interesting to see how quick they move to overturn some of the decisions. Dobbs will get chopped incredibly quick. I wonder how much pressure there will be for citizens united to get overturned since everyone is making so much fucking money. I hold out so much hope that Roberts is still sitting on that fucking court and watches as everything his court done is undone and his legacy goes to shit. I'm not optimistic it'll happen. Dems will need more than the presidency. They'll also need the Senate. Holding seats of opposing parties is going to become the new norm. There's a 0% chance a republican senate will allow the ideological balance to shift under their watch.
Still say expand court to 13 to match circuits, kick out everyone who's been on the bench over 13 years, fill out the seats, then remove and replace the oldest yearly. I'm sure the GOP would just love the dems filling 6+ seats virtually instantly, but maybe it's time we be the fascists they love to accuse us of being.![]()
A lot of the fogies at the top of the Democrat leadership in Congress would have to either die or retire for this kind of ambitiousness to ever see the light of day. Pelosi and Schumer and their loyalists are more than happy to do nothing and have endless amounts of material to keep pretending like they want to do something. Way better for their bottom line.
Can't scratch that veneer of incrementalism, after all.
Expanding the court to the current number of circuits has a justification. I don't think other limitations are viable.
OFC any move to reform the court will be taken as political, and will lead to retaliation by the GOP. AG loves to point out that our short circuit of the GOP blockade of Obama's nominees to the lower court is what justified subsequent SCOTUS shenanigans

At this point, not doing something, in order to appease/not set off the GoP, is the same kind of logic as an abusive spouse going "why did you make me beat you?".
I mean the GOP is definitely all that and more, but they will follow through on us expanding to 13 with them going to 27
