It's mostly that he has an opportunity to really drive home why Trump is unfit, and doesn't. If he can't convince voters he can fight, the ones on the fence won't buy it. How hard is it to go:

    1) Trump calls for unity after getting shot in the ear then immediately goes back to calling for people to fight and take your country back

    2) Trump cared more about his shoes than he did about his own safety, and then didn't even contact the wife of the supporter he had who was killed.

    3) Trump spent years driving the rhetoric that the liberals want to kill conservatives, yet conservatives have been more radicalized and responsible for liberal deaths than the other way around.

    4) Adding to #3 is the guy who tried to kill him was a conservative Trump supporter.

    5) The GOP cares so much about Project 2025 and winning the election that they'd run a convicted felon, use the supreme court to cover for him, and endanger the economy in favor of political points, all so they can stay in power and not so they can help their constituents.

    6) Democrat policies have been keeping the lower class afloat while billionaires donate to GOP campaigns intent on revoking those policies and protections.

    The list is endless.

    .
The fact he didn't even call the family just shows again just how fucking narcissistic trump is lol. They love to now talk about the left fanning the flames of chaos yet when Pelosi's husband was attacked they were making fun of him for being attacked. The only reasons the GOP are still floating around are gerrymandering and that the Dems still can't seem to communicate with the lower class how all their efforts actually benefit them (stop doing means testing you fucking fucks) without sound like elitist twats.

Reforms ain't gonna matter. Trump spent 4 years testing the waters before he learned that SCOTUS has no legitimate enforcement mechanism outside of impeachment and what they say really means fuck-all anyway if Congress won't step up. And they won't. If Trump would've tried for student loan forgiveness or a similar law and got denied, dude probably would have sent someone to wipe the Mohela servers while drinking coffee from an Anita Hill mug.

Yup, I mean SC basically just told Biden he's a king when doing Presidential acts even if they are technically illegal. Should just be lining up Sallie Mae execs against the White House wall outside and taking them out one by one until they delete all loan debt.

Even if it did somehow pass, we'd likely see the GOP cockblock any attempts at filling their seats until the election. And then if Trump wins that now frees him up to refill those seats plus potentially Sotomayor and Kagan towards the end of his term

There have been 116 SC Justices, and 64 of them have had tenures at 18 years or lower. Thomas is currently in the top 10 having served 32+ years.

Don't think it's meant to pass obviously, but it's meant to put it out there. And also something to hammer GOP on for upcoming elections too. Even /r/Conservative has a huge majority in support of it so pretty hard to argue against it. Even if it benefits the Dems right now, the rotation out would benefit the GOP next time they have office too...so it's not one sided at all.

Would Presidential immunity not require a Constitutional Amendment to fix? I had understood that their decision had declared it unconstitutional... by citing a single Federalist Paper but that's another issue.

Most conservatives I know have been messaging about term limits on SCOTUS and for Senators for years.

Term limits on elected officials are dumb and I'll die on that hill.

I would consider myself hyper-conservative and believe term limits are an excellent idea for the house and the senate.

I'd prefer to see an age limit for the supreme court along with a qualifying rubric to be nominated. That rubric should probably include something like "100 decisions made at the state supreme court level or the federal district court level" before you can be nominated. Those two combined would like presumably a minimum common age and a max age that would have the same effect as a term limit.

You'd probably need an age minimum too but then it's just getting too complicated. While you could have the rubric, and having x decisions being that would most likely put an age floor in place it would be beneficial to have one in writing as well just to cover all bases cuz fuck the honor system.

Kinda feel like no position should exceed 8 years and should probably span the 3 branches. Serve or GTFO, it's not the place to get rich.

Though, I'm still for expanding the SC to 13 seats to match circuits and cycling the oldest out yearly, basically giving each president 4 picks in a single term with extenuating circumstances extending a term should someone else get sick, die, or quit. You're still gonna have to work the other branches for approvals, but shit like McConnel pulled should also be prohibited and salaries withheld if a judge isn't replaced/keep kicking the can. An actionable code of conduct is otherwise sorely needed, assuming one actually cares about the whole checks and balances thing... including seeing their checks and balances.

And really, any high level government figure should have all their finances public record by default with shit like shell companies or off-shore accounts an immediate red flag. The recent push to ban stock trading for those in office and family/friends/partners should also stick. Though I think talk of that got lost in the kerfuffle of Trump faking his ear injury.
