Ruskies have decent-to-good modern tech and used it liberally in the early stages. the issue is more their stocks of anything modern, T-90 MBTs, Kh-101 and Kh-555 cruise missiles, Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopters, are extremely limited, whereas they are awash in Soviet-era tech stockpiles (including the dogshit T-72s that are getting melted in the hundreds by Javelins because their reactive armor do not work).

Russia has burned through a lot of their modern stockpiles and are increasingly relying on the older stuff, whereas the Ukrainians (who started the war with only Soviet crap) are getting more modern as Western aid continues to be pumped into the country. but they are burning through it as fast as we give it, and a lot of NATO stockpiles are being depleted. the US is giving more than every other country combined so as long as we keep it up they should be chilling, but a Republican House could change that up in a hurry, and the other NATO countries don't produce enough weapons to maintain this pace of fighting. in the qualitative tech battle the situation is good and improving for Ukrainians, can't guarantee it will last.

The other thing is this is an absolute goldmine for weapons testers. Wanna see how your new missile holds up against an army? Give Ukraine a few, see how it goes. Wanna know if that radar jammer works as intended? Slap it on a Ukranian jet and let them find out. We absolutely for sure have some insane future tech being tested out there.
