all morality aside: all we had to do was supply old weapons stocks to a geopolitical buffer state against one of our greatest foreign rivals, we could float them the credit at favorable interest rates to secure the aid and turn a pretty penny while doing it, impress upon our European allies the need to divest from Russian oil and natural gas further weakening Russia's economic position for decades to come while increasing antagonism between them and the EU, and at the cost of 0 American lives kept Russian quagmired indefinitely in a war that entirely neuters their ability to project power anywhere else (as seen with Assad's collapse and their inability to even attempt to prevent it). in exchange secured whatever economic concessions from Ukraine we desire while instilling a deep-seated favoritism to us not only in them but in every state on the Russian periphery from Georgia to Sweden who fear similar aggression.
