Shinji's characterization makes sense but is very annoying. However there is a lot of payoff finally seeing his character arc come to completion with the final Evangelion 3.0+1
Like it's a lot of investment for someone who didn't watch the original series and End of Evangelion, but if you did and were a fan, you see the series in a whole new light after the four new movies.
Like the new Rebuild of Evangelion movies definitely rely on subverting your expectations and are premised on the idea that the audience is already familiar with the universe. Someone who watched only 1.0/2.0/3.0/3.0+1 would not have the context to understand the significance of a lot of stuff. But my opinion of the universe as a whole, and of Anno as a storyteller, was massively improved by them.
I think most of it is self absorbed tomfoolery. Nevertheless, 3.0+1.0's final ten minutes did wrap up the character relationships and semi-justified their additional of Mari.
If you invested in watching everything else, it is worth watching the last movie to get some closure. If you didn't watch any of it, continue skipping IMO
nge was cool and thought provoking when i was like 13.
The opening still slaps though.
The only thing most people remember about that show is Cruel Angel's Thesis.
Epyon was right.
If you're 12.... I don't think you're old enough to watch this........... To be fair you have to have a very high IQ to understand Neon Genesis Evangelion. The plot is extremely complex, and without a solid grasp of human psychology most of the themes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Anno's atheistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his show- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Søren Kierkegaard literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these characters, to realize that they’re not just cartoons- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Evangelion truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the depth in Gendo's famous line “Get in the robot, Shinji,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Sigmund Freud's idea of the Oedipus Complex and how Shinji is fighting the urge to literally be inside his mother. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Hideaki Anno’s genius wit unfolds itself on their screens. What fools.. how I pity them.
And yes, by the way, i DO have a Eva tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid
I'm mad BG keeps removing the emojis
its not that, i think i deleted it
ill never find it again
The most I got out of it was hey all the stuff in the Bible was aliens, also trusting a 15 year old edgelord with daddy issues with the fate of mankind will end predictably.
