He's not taking a two year deal, his Qualifying Offer was 9M and would have taken him right to UFA status next year.

Honestly I think Monahan had the ceiling to be that 1C who could score like 40+ goals a year consistently. But sadly being a 'tough hockey bro', the guy will be lucky if he manages 20 in a season again.
I would say his career is all but done but if the Flames are losing all our talent, he might still have a roster spot, broken body and all lol
